Chapter 306 Better to Wait for a Miracle 

“What are you looking at?” Jonathan asked, embracing Angela. 

Angela shook her head. “Nothing. Let’s go back.” 

Jonathan had been eager to take her home, so he held her and left. 

In the distance, someone sighed as they watched the two of them. “Mr. Lawson and his wife are really clingy.” 

Another person chimed in, sounding equally envious. 

On the way, Angela mentioned to Jonathan about going to visit Scarlet the next day. Jonathan simply asked, “Do you want me to accompany you?” 

“No need.” Angela shook her head. “Oliver will be with me.” 

She was planning to visit the hospital the next day and would likely encounter members of the Kins Family. Dealing with the Kins Family was often bothersome, and she didn’t want Jonathan to get too involved. 

He was already occupied with work every day, and she didn’t want him to waste his energy on unworthy individuals. 

The following day, Angela arrived at the hospital early. Upon reaching Scarlet’s ward, she only found a caretaker snacking on sunflower seeds and engrossed in her phone.

When the caretaker, Evic, heard someone enter the ward, she quickly hid the sunflower seeds. Seeing Angela, she asked in confusion; “Did you come to the wrong ward?” 

Angela glanced at her. “No, I didn’t.” 

Evie said nothing else, pretending to tidy up the scattered seed shells around her. After stealing glances at Angela several times, she asked, “Are you here to visit Mrs. Kins? I haven’t seen you here before.” 

Angela replied, “Yes, it’s my first visit. Just here to check and then leave.” 

After speaking, she assessed Scarlet’s condition. Scarlet appeared to be asleep, with an empty drip bag attached. Angela saw that the drip bag was empty, and the blood had started to backflow slightly. 

She promptly pressed the call button on the bedside of the hospital bed.

Evie, observing her actions, asked loudly, “What are you doing?” 

Angela glanced at her calmly, ignoring her and holding Scarlet’s hand with the drip. 

Noticing that the tube attached to the hand was filled with blood, Evie became alarmed. “Hey, when did the drip finish so suddenly? I’ve been watching it the whole time.” 

Angela twisted the drip tube a few times, allowing the blood to slowly return from the tube to the body until it was completely drained before removing the needle. 

Evie looked at her somewhat awkwardly–uncertain of her identity–and could only remain silent, smiling sheepishly. 

Angela did not expect to glean any useful information from Evie, who seemed indifferent, and carefully examined Scarlet’s condition. 

Although Scarlet was in a vegetative state, her appearance suggested she was merely asleep. After a thorough examination, Angela confirmed that her condition was unusual. 

If she were to receive treatment, it would be quite challenging. However, Angela was unaware that the doctors had already stated that Scarlet had a ninety percent chance of not waking up. 

At the ward’s entrance, the nurse who responded to the call button inquired, “Has the drip finished?” 

Angela withdrew her gaze and replied calmly, “It’s done, and the needle has been removed. Is there anything else that needs to be administered?” 

““How did you remove the needle by yourself? After removing the needle, you should- 

“It’s been taken care of, Angela interrupted, disregarding the nurse’s instructions, and went to find Joseph. 

She couldn’t comprehend the Kins Family’s thought process; how could they hire someone like Evie who couldn’t even provide proper care? 

Joseph was surprised to see Angela. “Are you here to visit Mom?” 

He hadn’t expected her to arrive so early. In his mind, Angela would have likely delayed or procrastinated. 

“I’ve already visited her, and I suggest you replace the caretaker.” 

After making that statement, Angela was preparing to leave, but Joseph stopped and caught up with her, asking, “Are you going to leave just like this?”

Scarlet’s condition–even with her grandmother present–seemed beyond help. She did not require treatment, but rather, a miracle. 

With that said, Angela had no intention of staying and was ready to leave. 

As Joseph reached out to stop her, he was intercepted by Oliver, who warned him with a stern glance. 

Unable to stop her, Joseph followed her in puzzlement and inquired, “Are you really leaving? Did you come all this way just to criticize the caretaker?” 

Although George had asked him to convince Angela, Joseph was unprepared. He assumed that upon seeing Scarlet’s current state, Angela would be inclined to attempt treatment. 

“Not criticizing her, but just offering a friendly reminder. I came to visit, that’s all. I made that clear to George Kins beforehand,” Angela explained patiently as she allowed him to follow. 

While she spoke, Oliver kept a watchful eye on Joseph, as if anticipating any attempt by him to approach Angela.
