"We have evidence that you leaked information about the 'Sacred Pearl' to 717 insiders," Selena Mann said in a low voice. "It wasn't me," she added.
"Do you have any evidence to prove your innocence?" she was asked.
"No," Selena replied.
"As the head of the research department, do you realize how heinous your actions are?" she was questioned.
"I've already said it wasn't me," Selena replied, her slender back straight and calm in the face of everyone's doubts.
"But according to internal sources at 717, you are the one who gave them the inside information," she was accused.
Selena looked up and stared at the group of serious-looking people in front of her. "Given that I am already a stable head of the research department, I have no reason to do such a thing," she said.
"Perhaps it was to frame and eliminate opponents? After all, if we lose the 'Sacred Pearl,' the Shaw family will lose control of the research institute," someone suggested.
Suddenly, Selena laughed, a contemptuous, sarcastic, and cold smile. "Forgive me for being blunt, but even if it's someone within 717, they are not worthy of me lowering myself to frame them!" she said.
The interrogation room fell silent for a moment.
Selena's outstanding abilities as a mechanic had long been known throughout Zone Six. Apart from the owner of the 'Sacred Pearl,' there was probably no one in the world who could compete with her in this regard. Given this, she had no reason to take risks and frame the Shaw family.
Another voice of doubt came, "Then let me ask you, if you have nothing to hide, why did you openly resist arrest and even injure Colonel Esmee in the process?"
Selena looked up, her eyes cold as she looked at the man asking the question. "This question should be directed at all of you. In a situation where I had not yet been charged, the other party dared to kill someone in public. Isn't that an order from all of you?" she replied.
The man narrowed his eyes slightly. "Miss Turner, you can eat your fill of rice, but you can't talk nonsense. Colonel Esmee was enforcing the law properly, and your words and actions amount to slander!"
"In the situation where I had not resisted arrest, the other party opened fire on me outside Capital University, frightening many students. This is a fact that everyone witnessed," Selena said coolly. "My assistant only fought back in self-defense."
"According to you, should I not have fought back and just let her kill me?" she added.
The man's face changed slightly.
Sharp gazes turned to the few people who had gone to arrest Selena with Esmee. Esmee was injured and was in the operating room. The people who went with her could not hide anything from the many high-level executives present.
"At the time, the situation was a bit complicated... but it was indeed Colonel Esmee who attacked Miss Turner first," someone spoke up.
Selena laughed mockingly, "Murder and cover-up, abuse of power, disturbing the peace... looks like I need to meet you all in court!"
"This is Colonel Esmee's personal behavior, it has nothing to do with Zone Two," a senior member of Zone Two spoke seriously, "Our order was only to bring Miss Turner to Zone Two for questioning!"
"So, without receiving any orders and without me resisting arrest, shouldn't you be questioning why Colonel Esmee was so eager to kill me?" Selena smiled.
"Colonel Esmee is still in the operating room, we need to hear what she has to say about the situation," the man who had been questioning Selena earlier spoke calmly, "We can put this matter aside for now, Miss Turner. The urgent matter at hand is to find out why you leaked the existence of the 'Sacred Pearl' to 717 insiders!"
Selena's cold gaze swept over him, "Wrong. The urgent matter at hand is to find out whether or not I actually did it, not why I did it. Please choose your words carefully."
The man couldn't deny it, "So, can Miss Turner provide evidence to prove her innocence?"
Selena asked indifferently, "What kind of evidence do you want?"
The man, perhaps angered by Selena's stubbornness, insincerely suggested, "We may need several key figures from the Lab 717 to personally come and testify in order to prove Miss Turner's innocence?"
