Chapter 23 No Traces of Male Habitation
Anaya took Sammo home. She took dog food and some dog toys out and showered Sammo.
Just as Anaya was about to dry Sammo‘s hair, the doorbell rang.
She put down the hairdryer and walked to the door.
Seeing the person outside, Anaya gripped the handle tightly and blocked the door. “Why are you here?”
Joshua‘s face was cold, and the surrounding air seemed to freeze into ice, “Before the divorce, did you get together with Hears?”
On the way here, Joshua asked Alex to look for that trend.
The trend only stayed for ten minutes in the top list before it was removed. It was likely that someone subdued it on purpose.
Somehow, Joshua thought that it must be Anaya.
The fact that Anaya took the initiative to bring up the divorce was unbelievable. Moreover, she had just gotten a divorce today, and Hearse was waiting for her at the entrance of City Hall...
If Anaya and Hearst got together before the divorce, then everything made sense.
However, all of this was only a guess. Without conclusive evidence, Joshua could only come over to verify it.
If everything was true...
If everything was true, Joshua would never let Hearst get away with it!
“It‘s not often to see you talk to me so politely.” Anaya gave him a sarcastic compliment and continued. “The news is fake. Those photos were taken secretly at night. You should have investigated what happened that night. Nothing happened between him and me.”
Her delicate face was bright and magnanimous, without any trace of lying.
Joshua stared at Anaya for a while and seemed to be considering the authenticity of her words.
Anaya was about to let him leave when Joshua suddenly forcefully pushed open the door and entered the apartment.
Joshua never asked for Anaya‘s opinion before doing anything.
“Mr. Maltz, didn‘t anyone tell you that breaking into a single woman‘s home is very rude?” Anaya was a little dissatisfied.
“We have been living together for a year. Do you still care about this?”
“That was before. Now we are divorced.”
Joshua was a little displeased and did not argue with her. He carefully observed her residence.
It was a normal apartment that was more than a thousand square feet. The decoration was very simple.
Although it wasn‘t shabby, it was far inferior to the Maltz‘s house,
“You live in a place like this?” Joshua asked in disdain.
It was not that Anaya couldn‘t afford to rent a better house, but it was just that this place was closest to the hospital where Adams lived, so she chose this place.
“Mr. Maltz, if you came here just to provoke me, please leave now.” Anaya stood by the door without explaining.
Joshua glanced at her without a word and circled the room.
The toothbrush, slippers, and clothes on the balcony were all Anaya‘s.
There were no traces of male habitation.
It made Joshua‘s mood slightly better.
It looked like the news was indeed fake.
Just as Joshua was about to leave the bathroom, he saw a white thing under the sink.
Sammo‘s fur was still wet. It shook its body and wanted to get dry.
Joshua was standing right next to it, and he was splashed all over by the water without warning.
His face instantly turned glum. He took out a dark handkerchief and wiped the water on his clothes. He quickly walked out of the bathroom and said in his usual commanding tone, “Anaya, you know that I don‘t like dogs. Why did you raise such a dirty thing? Quickly throw it away!”
As if feeling Joshua‘s mood, the dog deliberately ran to his side, shook a few more times, and thert quickly hid behind Anaya for protection.
Joshua‘s expression became even more gloomy.
Anaya smiled.
This dog was smart and knew who to get close to.
“Mr. Maltz,” Anaya lifted her eyelids and looked at Joshua. “I am no longer your ‘servant‘. Please don‘t use this kind of commanding tone to talk to me. It‘s not pleasant to the ears.”
In the past, Anaya had liked Joshua, which was why she had tolerated him.
