Chapter 424 Back Up
"Mr. Kooper, there's no need for you to blow things out of proportion. How could you call it bullying? It's merely banter among children."
"Since you don't think it's a serious matter, you should apologize to my wife. You should also get your son to apologize to my daughter."
The "Lady of Calthon" was defiant. She glared at Gilbert, "My husband is Calthon's..."
"Mhm, the mayor of Calthon was elected by the Chamber of Commerce," Gilbert said while patting Ada's head.
He continued coolly, "It's been three years now, hasn't it? It seems like we'll be needing a new mayor for Calthon."
The "Lady of Calthon's" expression instantly paled upon hearing his words.
"You... Stop running your mouth. My husband..."
"Back then, your husband stood in front of my doorstep and begged me many times. I pitied him, so I nominated him to the Chamber of Commerce. But now, it seems like he's been making a fool of me behind my back. He's been living too comfortably for the past three years, hasn't he?"
The "Lady of Calthon" paled even more.
When the other parents saw her expression, they thought in unison that it was over for the "Lady of Calthon."
All of them rushed to apologize to Kisa.
"I'm so sorry, Mrs. Kooper. We were ignorant and had offended you. Please forgive us."
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Kooper. We shouldn't have made fun of you that way. It was ignorant of us to not recognize you. We won't do it again in the future," another one of the parents said while hurriedly nudging her son.
"Hurry up and apologize to Ada. If you ever bully Ada again, I'll surely teach you a lesson."
"Why do I have to? Ada doesn't have a mom; that’s what you and dad said... Mmph!"
The mother quickly covered her son's mouth. Then, she turned to Gilbert with a panicked and awkward expression.
Gilbert chuckled, "You've been running your mouth in front of your children, huh?"
The mother turned ghostly pale and did not dare to meet Gilbert's gaze. She merely smacked her son's shoulder, "Be good. Hurry up and apologize to Ada."
In the end, the few boys apologized to Ada under the intimidation of their parents.
Ada was a kind-hearted child. She happily waved at the few boys and said, "Alright, I'm not mad at you all anymore. But in the future, you all shouldn't say that I don't have a mom."
"They surely won't, Miss Kooper. Look, your mom's right here. We surely won't dare to say such a thing in the future," one of the parents said while carefully observing Gilbert's gaze.
Gilbert snorted before shifting his icy gaze toward the "Lady of Calthon."
The "Lady of Calthon" did not waver. She snorted coldly, "I refuse to believe that my husband, the mayor of Calthon, would be afraid of a CEO from a little company."
Then, she dragged her son away angrily.
