Chapter 176 You Owe Me a Wedding
In the quiet room, her hiccups broke the silence, and the air seemed to freeze. This hiccup couldn't have come at a worse time.
Avery awkwardly looked at Jacob. "Um, let me explain."
In a moment of urgency, she blurted out her inner thoughts, making the atmosphere even worse.
She cautiously glanced at Jacob and noticed that his ever-changing face didn't show any displeasure. Instead, there was a faint trace of tenderness in his eyes.
Was she mistaken? How could he possibly feel sorry for her?
"If you're hungry, eat more," Jacob took a big spoonful and stuffed it into her mouth.
Avery blinked. Did he think she hiccupped because of anger?
She had clearly come to bring him food, but in the end, she ended up being fed.
"I'm full, I really am," Avery felt like she was about to throw up.
Jacob frowned unhappily. "Look how skinny you've become. Why are you only eating so little?"
As he complained, he fed her another spoonful. Avery's cheeks puffed up like a little squirrel.
At this moment, the door was pushed open, and a woman wearing glasses and formal attire stood at the doorway. "Mr. Hill, we need you for this document..."
The woman didn't expect to see this scene. Jacob, who rarely smiled and always avoided women, was actually holding Avery in his arms, feeding her, and treating her with such high regard. The secretary was stunned.
Avery tried to swallow the food forcefully but choked on it due to her haste. Her face turned red, "Water..."
While complaining, Jacob handed her the water, saying, "You're already an adult, how could you choke on food?"
Avery hugged his neck with both hands, rubbing her face against his, and pouted. "I got scared."
Avery jumped off his lap. "I'm full now; you eat."
She looked like a jerk who dumped someone after enjoying his company.
Avery stood in front of the huge floor-to-ceiling window, her figure appearing infinitely smaller.
Jacob stared at her back, feeling a mix of emotions.
Avery looked at the bustling city lights outside, without a single one belonging to her.
Jacob put down his fork and walked behind her, asking in a deep voice, "What are you thinking?"
Avery's voice was calm. "I was thinking about your engagement banquet with Layla. I heard she chose a hundred-acre cherry blossom field. When the cherry blossoms bloom, the scene must be incredibly beautiful."
She slowly turned around, looking up at Jacob. "Speaking of which, you still owe me a wedding."
