Chapter 189 A Final Farewell Amidst the Dead
Avery, visiting such a place for the first time, found the room chillingly cold. The frigid air crept up from her feet, enveloping her entire body as if countless eyes were watching her back.
Just standing there took all her strength.
"Don't be afraid," Frank's low voice comforted her. Avery, her hands damp with cold sweat, said, "We want to say goodbye to her."
"Alright, but don't take too long. I'll wait outside."
Once the staff member left, a cold breeze startled Avery into Frank's arms.
He wrapped his arms around her, sighing faintly. "You really aren't cut out for this place. Wait outside for me. I'll be quick."
"But..."
"Dead bodies are nothing new to me. What kind of corpse haven't I seen?" Frank was serious.
Avery insisted on staying, so Frank suggested, "Then don't open your eyes. I'll describe it."
"Okay."
She stepped behind him, focusing on the dark patterns on his black jacket. Feeling his arm muscle flex, he grasped the lever and pulled it smoothly, revealing the body with a foul stench hitting them.
Avery, already feeling nauseous, gagged.
She tried to look up, but suddenly, a hand covered her eyes.
The warmth of the man's large palm blocked out all the light.
"Don't look," Frank's voice came. "the body... it's quite gruesome."
Avery remembered the mosaic-covered image of Jane in the news, indicating much bloodshed.
But the reality was far worse. Days had passed, and even in the freezer, the body had gruesomely decomposed.
