Rejected By My Mate novel Chapter 41

Sabrina’s POV

It’s been two hours since we searched the entire town for Alex’s beast. Her whereabouts are hard to track because she hides it very well. She victimized 10 hybrids. Most of the folks suspect Lucia because of the ‘X’ mark on the 4 women’s faces. But they have no evidence. The town folks irritated me as they kept saying false rumors around town about Lucia. I feel bad for Lucia, but I didn’t even see her react and defend herself. She just ignores everyone like she was used to it. How brave of her.

I also defended Lucia to the folks and explained that there’s a beast that got in. Some aren't convinced of my statement and stated their doubts. Without a choice, I let Lucia come with us to save her from the judgmental folks. The town folks’ behavior is understandable. It is the first time a murdered happened in the entire Kingdom. They are just freaking out and it’s a normal reaction from everyone.

It was dark and now we are heading towards the world outside the Moonlight Kingdom. As we stepped foot in the Tibbertan Mountain, I could feel the coldness of the wind as it blew furiously. Good thing I wore thick clothes.

“Snow is coming this way.” Layla mumbled.

“Yeah. Few hours from now, snow will fill the entire mountain and it will be easier for our enemies to cross and reach this mountain. Lucky for them, they don’t need to cross rivers anymore.” I said.

“Yeah, lucky bastards.” Lucia uttered.

I looked around us and noticed the bell rock lighthouse in the distance. I narrowed my eyes when something caught my attention.

“It will be hard to find Alex.” Layla said and sighed.

Absolutely.

“Wait here. I'll be back.” I said hastily and ran towards the bell rock lighthouse. They called me, but I didn’t listen until I reached the lighthouse. I climbed up the spiraling stairs until I reached the top. I was right. The bell fell off to the floor while the two light bulbs cracked and were not working. Who could have done this?

I took a deep breath and used my magic to repair the bell and the light bulb back into its position. Afterwards, the lights are working again and light up the entire mountain.

“Hey, Sabrina.”

I almost jumped when someone spoke behind me. “Holy!” I mumbled hastily while my breathing hitch in my throat. My forehead creased while looking at the young man in a black cloak. “Lucas? What are you doing here?”

He sighed and said, “I was following Alex…”

My ears perked up upon hearing Alex’s name. “Where is she now?!” I asked eagerly.

“She just vanished from my sight after destroying the bell and the lights.”

“What?!” he took a deep breath while staring at the lights.

“Something is wrong with Alex. I didn’t recognize her at first because of the color of her hair and eyes, but when I stare at her intently, I realize she was Alex. And her aura screams danger.” he said and walked into the railings and gripped the metal.

“But wait, did you talk to her?” I asked and stepped beside him.

“Yeah, but she said something though.”

“What is it?”

It took him 20 seconds before replying. “She said, Do you want to live or die?"

What? Dumbfounded, I stared at Lucas.

“What else did she say?”

Lucas shook his head. “Nothing. I guess…”

I nodded and pacing back and forth while thinking about what the beast had said. I know it has double meaning. She knew I would come here.

“Sabrina!” Lucia and Layla called from downstairs. I can hear them climb up the spiraling stairs.

Lucas grabbed my wrist that made me stop and stare at him. “I remember she whispers something into the air before completely vanishing from my sight.”

“Tell me, Lucas.” he nodded, and leaned into me then whispered something to my ear that made me shivered in fear. I looked at him unbelievably.

He stared at me and said, “I know she’s not the real Alex. She tried to choke me to death. I thought I’m going to die, but she suddenly stopped and groaned while grabbing her head like someone was manipulating her. A black aura was circling her.”

“Listen. You’re right, Lucas. Alex is not the real Alex. It’s Alex’s beast that we need to defeat or else we are all going to be dead. We need to wake up the real Alex. I know she’s still inside her, probably trapped.” I revealed.

“What?” he mumbled, dumbfounded.

“Sabrina! Lucas?” Lucia interrupted. We both look at her and Layla, who was panting. “What are you doing here?” Lucia asked with a creased forehead in confusion.

“It’s a long story.” Lucas said.

“You should go back to the Kingdom, Lucas. It’s not safe for you here.” Lucia said with a worried tone.

Lucas sighed and nodded. “Okay. Have a safe journey ahead.”

We all nodded and stepped the stairs, going down in silence. Thoughts were running in my mind like crazy. Honestly, I don’t know where to look for Alex’s beast. Who knew where she would go? She’s too unpredictable and full of mysteries.

But we have to find her as soon as possible. We have little time left. I presume enemies are now preparing and ready to take their journey coming here. Five days to go. It will be bloody hell. We only have two choices in the war—Dead or Alive.

Alexandria’s POV

Being trapped in this darkness, give me time to rest my mind and soul. I know I am too exhausted, that’s why Demonise controls my body fully.

“Alex, are you okay?” Xandra asked. I looked at her and sighed.

“I’m fine. I’m just thinking of a way to get out of here.”

“I think I know how.” Willow said, and we all looked at her.

“How?!” Val asked.

“Hatred.” she replied.

“What?”

“We have to forgive everyone that wronged us. Demonise got free when we were full of hatred.”
