Chapter 809 Keeping Things from Her
Met with his daughter’s silence, Claude felt helpless, walked to her side, sat down, held her in his arms, and soothed her, “You’re my dear daughter. How would I have the heart to scold you? I was too anxious to control my voice and afraid that someone might hear anything. Don’t you believe me?”
He looked at his daughter in a gracious manner. His face was a little haggard and covered with stubble. Angela turned to look at her dad, surprised to see him like that.
Her father was a little fat but used to be well-groomed. He had always been elegant, but now there were dark circles under his eyes.
How come he keeps the stubble on his face? It’s not like he is on vacation.
Angela sensed something wrong, looked at him, and frowned. “Dad, did anything happen to our company?”
She stopped making a fuss. Their company was what mattered.
Claude laughed, “Not really, you think too much. Everything is going on well.”
“Then why are you in such bad shape? Dark circles are under your eyes. You haven’t shaven, and did you lose weight?”
Martha sighed under her breath. That was two billion dollars. This matter alone was devastating.
In fact, she had lost wight too. It was just that she stayed with Angela all the time, and the latter didn’t notice it.
“Ha-ha, did I? Thinner is better. My figure was perfect and admired by a lot of women back then. Now I’m fat and even tired of walking. I’ve eaten and drunk less lately. It looks like my efforts have paid off.”
If they were reluctant to tell, she could not get an answer whatsoever. She would go to the office and find out herself. There might be clues.
As her daughter stopped pursuing the matter, Claude got up with a smile and looked at Martha. “Have you got dinner ready? It is time.”
Angela frowned again. Wait, my mom is taking care of our food now?
Martha nodded. “It’s in the pot. I’ll serve the food at once.”
With that, she headed to the kitchen. On the sofa, Angela’s face clouded over.
Something is wrong!
