At midnight, it was Anderson who carried Mayra back to her room.

Only after applying medicine to her injured feet did he leave.

There was a significant age gap between them. Mayra had just turned 16, while Anderson was already 28. In two more years, he would hit 30, while Mayra’s life would just have begun,

In her previous life, Anderson showered her with all his affection, even more than he did with Isabel. However, he never gave her a proper status. They were in a murky relationship and had done everything together. Even though she was despised by everyone as his mistress, Mayra never cared. She didn’t have a family background like Isabel’s. No matter how much she did, she could never be accepted by the Barlow family.

At this point, Mayra had nothing left to lose.

In the three days she spent recuperating in the Barlow mansion, Mayra was in bed for the majority of the time to hasten the healing of her feet. The maids delivered all three meals to her punctually.

Anderson hadn’t returned last night. He must have stayed over at Barlow Estate.

On Saturday, the Barlow family had a family banquet, and Isabel was there. Naturally, Mayra wasn’t qualified to attend.

Lying in bed, she munched on washed cherries with the latest model of a phone in her hand. Her old phone was completely ruined, but fortunately, the memory card was still usable.

She exported Gordon’s number and sent him a message from her new phone.

However, she didn’t receive any reply from him for a long time.

In truth, after so many days, she kind of missed him.

“Gordon, what are you doing? You’re not replying again,” she wrote.

In the end, after much thought, Mayra decided to go to Paramount Hall.

She chose an ankle–length dress from the wardrobe and tied her hair into a bun with stray strands framing her face, which gave her a lively and spirited look. With a canvas bag slung over her shoulder and her

homework in hand, she descended the stairs.

Upon seeing her come down the stairs, Julia reluctantly called out, “Ms. Sadler, it’s lunchtime now. Mr. Anderson and Ms. Fisher will be back soon. You shouldn’t be running around.”
