The Riddle family's refusal to help Penelope had already caused Daphne a great deal of stress. And on top of that, both Leon and Hattie had been ignoring her lately, which made Daphne even more uneasy.
"That's your daughter, how could you lay a hand on her?!" Daphne exclaimed.
"Mom, you know she's my daughter, but have you seen how she treats me as her father? There's no love for me in her eyes!" Hunter retorted.
"And then there's my older brother and Leon. They're trying to take care of my daughter, but they're actually inciting her to defy me!" Hunter added.
"How can we not teach this little brat a lesson?!" Hunter looked at Daphne with a self-righteous expression.
Daphne was so angry that she clutched her chest. "Don't you know that your daughter is sick?"
"Every time you see her after she returned from Creephia, you either scold or beat her. Why can't you show her some more care?" Daphne asked.
Hunter felt a pang of guilt in his heart, but he still argued, "It's her fault, mother. Haven't you seen how she treats Kaitlyn?"
Daphne loved Kaitlyn dearly, but Hattie was also her granddaughter, whom she had raised. She couldn't bring herself to mistreat Hattie just for the sake of Kaitlyn.
Especially after hearing Hattie's screams outside Selena's villa and Leon's subsequent words, Daphne was terrified.
Thinking of Hattie's mother's death, she almost couldn't bear to look into the child's eyes.
Daphne was about to say something, but she suddenly saw Leon leading Hattie over.
Hunter saw them too and shouted angrily, "What are you trying to do, you little brat?"
Leon stroked Hattie's hair and said, "Go ahead, I've got your back."
With a cold snort, Hattie rushed towards Kaitlyn and slapped her hard on both cheeks before anyone could react.
The crisp sound of the slaps reverberated in everyone's ears.
Kaitlyn felt a sharp pain spread throughout her body from her cheeks, and the pain was so intense that her whole body went numb. Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably as she cried out in pain, "Mom..."
Daphne was stunned.
Manny ran over with red eyes and hugged her.
Hunter's face twisted in anger, and he raised his hand to slap Hattie.
His hand was blocked by Leon halfway through, and Leon gave him a cold glance before looking down at Hattie. "If your hand hurts, you can find someone else to do it."
Hattie snorted again and ran away, slapping Kaitlyn twice hard as she went.
Hunter was trembling with anger, and his roar almost changed his tone. "Leon!"
Leon let go of his hand and said coldly, "Uncle, you can continue to attack Hattie, but I guarantee that every time you lay a hand on Hattie, it will be doubled back on your illegitimate daughter."

The readers' comments on the novel: Revenge On Love Rats After Rebirth by Olivia Marsh
From the beginning of the story to page 148, the plot is just going in circles about fighting. So ridiculous and waste of time to read! I have no patience for these kind stories. Be more creative if you’re planning to write a book/story!!!...
Beautiful story...
