Drake fixed his pitiful gaze on Sophia.
He never expected it would happen to him one day.
When it was time for sleep, Bonnie looked at Drake who was on the sofa and, intentionally or unintentionally, asked, "Mommy, why does Papa sleep on the sofa?"
"The bed is too small for him."
Bonnie looked innocent, "I don't think so. The bed is big enough to take one more person."
Drake was afraid that his "stupid" daughter would blunder on, so he winked at her to stop her.
Sophia noticed that and asked Bonnie, "Did your father say something..."
"No! Of course not!" Drake knew clear what she was going to say and stopped her hurriedly.
Sophia threw a glance at him, "Why so flustered? Are you guilty or something? Tell me, who else do you want to sleep on this bed!"
Drake truly understood that one word could make the difference between success and failure. His daughter almost drove him mad.
"No. I don't think Bonnie means anything else, but our bed is big. Bonnie, right?"
Bonnie realized the seriousness of the situation and nodded.
Sophia looked at them and said, "Well, sleep!"
Although Bonnie was still curious why her father had to sleep on the sofa, she finally decided not to ask when she saw how her mommy was behaving.
The next morning, Drake woke up on the sofa. Seeing Sophia's face finally soften, he sighed with relief.
However, he still felt uncomfortable for sleeping on the sofa all night long. He needed to take his frustrations out on someone.
When Drake arrived at his company, he asked Paul to prepare a pile of documents for him. Paul had no idea what was going on with Drake. However, as he had worked for Drake for so many years, he guessed it must be because of Sophia, who might have done something "bad" to him.
But...
"Mr. Riley, you don't have to work so hard. I'll cope with these documents for you."
"What makes you think I'm going to handles them?"
Paul felt strange and asked, "May I know who will cope with them?"
Just then, Rashad came in from outside after he knocked at the door, "Drake, what's going on?"
"Well," Drake said impassively, "Rashad, you may not be familiar with the work as you are new here. So I ask Paul to prepare these for you. By the time you are done, you might be familiar with the business of our company."
Paul was out of words.
Rashad was aware that Drake did it on purpose, but he said nothing and intended to pick up the documents.
"Rashad, have Paul deliver them to your office. There will be some tough days for you."
"It's not a big deal. Drake, I should thank you as you allow me to participate in the operation of the company. I will do my best to live up to your expectation."
"Good! Paul, bring the documents to Rashad's office."
"Yes, sir!"
As Paul carried the documents, he felt "sorry" for Rashad. He shouldn't have offended Drake, who was always vengeful!
