Drake put a helmet on her; he was gentle and careful while doing so.
Sophia enjoyed being taken care of by him. She looked at him and felicitated herself that they finally got together after getting through a myriad of difficulties. Otherwise, she would have regretted it bitterly.
"Done. Come on!" he reached out his hand and gave her helmet an affection pat.
In this moment, Sophia thought herself a fair maiden who just fell in love with her Mr. Right instead of a woman in her thirties. Her heart felt warm, like being bathed in the light of happiness.
As they got on the motorbike, Sophia held him close to her from behind, with her arms wrapped around his waist.
She told herself no matter where this man wanted to go, she would follow him.
The motorbike zoomed forward. Perhaps, it was rare to see a motorbike on the road so many passers-by's attention was attracted by it.
The restaurant was not too far, and thus they arrived at the place soon.
When they got off, Drake held her hand of his own accord.
However, Sophia didn't move forward. Drake asked her perplexedly with his gaze settling on her face, "Anything wrong?"
Sophia looked at their crossed hands.
Drake followed her signal and looked down, then a smile lifted the corner of his mouth, "You don't want to hold my hand? Or you don't want others to know our relationship?"
"Neither. I just think it... weird for us to do so since we're not newlyweds."
Since they were reconciled, they had never walked hand in hand in public. It made her reminiscent of the time when they went steady at the very beginning.
Drake held her in arms with a faint smile. In his eyes, there were affection and happiness which could be concealed.
"Today is only for us. We are supposed to do so. And I'm sorry it makes you feel awkward because it's because of my abruptness. I will do it better in the future. Trust me."
Sophia smiled at him, sweetly. After a while, she kissed him on the cheeks on tiptoes.
Drake looked at her in surprise. After he realized it, he returned her a kiss on her lips and moved into the restaurant with Sophia in his arm.
Both of them showed a big smile on the face.
Drake had made a reservation. The location of their table was the best one though it was in the hall.
They were seated but didn't ask for a menu because Drake knew well what the favourite food of Sophia were and he prepared everything when he called the restaurant.
"Drake, it feels great!" Sophia sat there as if she didn't have to arrange anything.
"Really? Then I will prepare it for you more often." Drake enjoyed her smiling and compliment.
"But it gives me an illusion of being betrayed as if you have done something wrong behind me."
Drake was amused, "That's impossible, Sophia, trust in me. I love you. I can even give everything to you..."
Before he finished his words, Sophia interrupted him, "Forget it. Just a joke!"
Drake looked grievous, "Everything can be a joke except this one."
Sophia nodded, "I'm sorry. I will take it back and never let it out."
Dishes were served up. Sophia picked up chopsticks and was about to taste them.
At this moment, a woman walked towards them and said in a make-believe astonishment, "Hey, my dear elder cousin and cousin-in-law. You're having a great meal, aren't you?"
Sophia felt uncomfortable at this voice. She put down the fork as if she thoroughly lost her appetite.
Not getting any response, Cathy got close to Sophia on purpose and added, "Sophia, I'm starving now. May I join you?"
"If I say 'no', will you leave?" Sophia obtrusively showed her impatience on her face.
Cathy pretended to give her a soft appealing look, "Please. These goodies are too much for you two. Let me join you. It will be more joyful."
