Colton hurriedly walked out of the hospital. Finally, he spotted Nicole near the hospital entrance.
He jogged over to her and grabbed her by the wrist. "What's wrong?"
Nicole turned around and swiftly pulled her hand out of his grasp. Her face was blank when she replied nonchalantly, "Nothing much," she calmly said. "You should take care of the matters here first. I still have to investigate the Clancies' murders. Let us split up."
The calmer she appeared, the more uneasy he felt. At that moment, uncertainty flashed across his mind before he asked Nicole with a smile, "Are you jealous, Nicky?"
The thought of that possibility made his entire face light up with joy.
She scowled upon seeing his grin before letting out a cold huff.
"Is there something wrong with you? Why would I be jealous? Go back and take care of Miss Brimley while I investigate the Clancies' murders."
She then walked away after finishing her sentence.
For some reason, he was a little happy when he saw her stubbornly denying it.
"I will have my men take care of her," he said. "No matter what, my heart is still yours."
Colton smiled, taking pride in his statement.
She rolled her eyes, ignored him, and continued walking away.
"There is no need," she said. "She was hurt because of you. Logically speaking, you should be taking care of her."
Following behind her, Colton raised an eyebrow. It seemed that she was truly angry.
He quickly reached out and stopped her from walking away.
"I'll investigate with you. I have spoken to Undercity's leader at the last meeting, so this must be the action of the new leader. This will be over soon."
Nicole then shot him a questioning look with doubt on her face.
Nevertheless, Colton merely smiled and kept quiet.
He had already come clean to Adam. If Adam continued to let things go on as it was, he would be making enemies with Wolf and Gardner Corporation.
Adam would never have the courage to risk that.
"There is no need," she coldly responded.
He ignored the frosty treatment though and insistently leaned in close to wrap an arm around her shoulders as he smiled.
"Don't worry, Nicky. My heart is yours forever."
She shivered. That last statement was so nauseating that she was surprised he said that.
After watching Colton walk away, Sasha lay back down on the bed. Her face was as pale as a sheet.
Her body recovered quite fast, but in order to make herself look pale and pitiful, she had forced her wound to re-open. However, she did not expect Colton to leave after all she did.
Just as she was deep in her thoughts, someone opened the door.
She swiftly wiped the angry look off her face so that she looked as pitiful as she was before.
In that instance, her heart leaped with joy. It must be Colton returning for her.
Her eyes shimmered with tears. However, she then saw Adam stepping into the room.
The feeble look on her face swiftly went away as she coldly stared at the hunched-over figure.
"Why are you here?" She huffed.
Standing next to Adam was a tall man who had followed him into the room.
When Adam spotted the feeble look on her face, he chuckled.
"Is playing the victim the trick you're using?"
There was an unpleasant tinge to her blank face as she coldly huffed.
"That is none of your business."
Surprisingly, he was not angry at her response. Instead, he chuckled once more.
"Your trick is useless. Colton still ran off with another woman."
His words struck her where it hurt the most as her face went stark white. Hearing that, she clenched her fists.
"Stay out of my business!" she retorted.

What a waste of reading! This could have been an excellent novel if it hadn't skipped chapters after 531 and then everything is garbled. Get your act together if you still want a reading audience!!!...
