Paisley rolled her eyes. “I'm your wife. I sleep in the same bed as you every night. How can I not know what you think? Still, there's something I don't understand.”
On normal days, Garrett didn't like talking about politics with his wife, but he was in the mood for it that night. So, instead of reprimanding her for being a busybody, he asked curiously, “What is it that you don't understand?”
“Zion is the cabinet secretary. He's a reputable man, so even if he did commit a crime, it can be resolved internally. There's no need to arrest him in public. When Erwin asked for your permission to arrest Zion for investigation whenever he wanted, it was obvious what he was going to do. I don't understand why you disregarded the consequences and allowed Erwin to arrest Zion.”
Garrett smiled. “You and Nathan are confused by the same thing.”

His smile turned into a grin. “You already said the answer out loud earlier. I did all this because I want Nathan to interfere in this matter and take my place.”
Paisley widened her eyes. “Aren't you helping Erwin take down Zion so that Erwin could be the next president? What does this have to do with Nathan?”
“Nathan only wants to be the commander-in-chief, and he is unwilling to be the president. I have no choice but to force him. As for Erwin and Zion, both of them have been pulling tricks to fight each other for the position of president. They thought no one knew, but I know everything."
Hearing that, Paisley remained silent.
Even though Garrett's terribly sick, he still asks his special intelligence officers to report to him every day. He's basically observing every detail of the situation and every move of his subordinates to see which subordinate of his is actually serving the interest of the citizens. He knows who's playing tricks and who's trying to take advantage of a situation for their own benefit. It's obvious that Erwin and Zion have been desperately trying to gain more supporters so they can become the next president. They've even tried to pull a bunch of tricks in secret, which indirectly pissed Garrett off.
Suddenly, realization dawned on
