Penny regained her senses. She wanted to speak up but was interrupted by Ava.
“Is that the right attitude to invite Mrs. Cross to participate in the investigation? You're clearly treating her like a criminal. How dare you even mention the handcuffs? Come on, I'd love to see who is so brazen to arrest Mrs. Cross.”
Enrique was Erwin's most capable subordinate and most trusted righthand man.
He was infamous for his ruthlessness, a person who never made any allowances for anyone for any matter. Apparently, he had lived a poor life after graduating from university. It was his wife who had to take up two jobs to be the breadwinner and support him on his arduous journey of becoming a civil servant.
Fortunately, he got the position he wanted. He served under the leadership of a good superior, and his rank skyrocketed since.
However, after achieving success, he mercilessly divorced his wife and married a beautiful model.
Rumor had it that his ex-wife could not accept the harsh reality and suffered from mental health problems.
Enrique was so terrible to the extent that he never visited her, and neither did he show any care and concern toward their daughter.
He was the epitome of a heartless and unfaithful scum.
With a personality as such, Enrique answered to no one and certainly could not be bothered by Ava's taunt.
His expression turned ashen when he saw Ava blocking him from taking Penny away. He retorted, “Since you're hindering me from enforcing the law, don't blame me for being forceful. Take the both of them away!”
Enrique was well aware that Erwin had declared war against Nathan.
There's no turning back anymore. It's either Chief Cross being taken down completely or Mr. Holmes getting a backlash.
Therefore, he could not back down at this juncture. He hardened his heart and instructed for Penny to be arrested at once. He had to expedite the case, prove her guilty, and then accuse Nathan of it in order to stir up an uproar and make him step down. The subordinates he brought along were all well-trained elites.
At his command, over ten men immediately pounced on Ava and Penny.
Ava was enraged by their actions.
In return, she raised her leg, and with a thrust, her foot dug into one of the men's chests.
Thud!
Her opponent's chest caved as though a big hammer had pounded on it. At that instant, his entire chest and ribs broke. Blood sprayed from his mouth, and his body was thrown backward by the force.
Subsequently, Ava dived into her enemies' territory like a tigress among a flock of sheep and launched relentless attacks against them.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
She skillfully beat all of Enrique's subordinates to a pulp. In the blink of an eye, six or seven men collapsed to the ground.
Seeing so, Enrique frowned. He did not expect Penny to keep such a great fighter as her bodyguard.
