After relaying Nathan's message, Colin turned and left with his soldiers in tow.
The remaining people exchanged looks silently.
Erwin was shaking in rage at the sight of a lifeless Enrique. “Chief Cross is using his position to cover up for his wife! How outrageous!”
Right then, Erwin's subordinate ran in.
He bore a weird expression as he reported, “Mr. Holmes, we received news that the Chief Military Governor, Nathan Cross, has just announced that he'll run for president in the upcoming election.”
What?
Erwin's expression changed abruptly.
Didn't Nathan promise he wouldn't run for president? Why did he change his mind in the end?
The expression on Erwin's grim face darkened further when he heard the
news.
Despite suspecting that Nathan would announce his participation in the presidential race, Erwin couldn't help but grow furious when his prediction came true.
Regret overwhelmed his heart deep down.
If his sons hadn't planned to harm Penny behind his back, he wouldn't have gotten involved in a battle of wits with Nathan this early.
After he learned that his sons had schemed against Penny, he knew he and Nathan would be at odds.
One of them would have to yield to the other.
Instead of suffering later, it was better to strike first.
