At that very moment, a soldier approached to report hastily, “Chief Cross, Xavion Tolkien, and Titus Yanev have led large rebel groups here. They're ordering us to open the door, claiming they want to arrest a public enemy in the military.”
Nathan asked quizzically, “Public enemy in the military?”
The soldier replied warily, “If I'm not wrong, they are referring to you!”
Nathan sniggered. “How preposterous! Let me go out to have a look myself.”
He appeared at the entrance of the White House in no time at all. The Elite Eight and a large troop of soldiers were right behind him.
The main entrance of the White House was usually spacious, like a square. Nevertheless, it was currently surrounded by armored SUVs and countless soldiers from the rebel troops. There were even helicopters flying toward them from a distance away.
Xavion and Titus emerged about three hundred meters away. Both were standing on an armored command vehicle each as they kept their eyes glued to Nathan.
Nathan retorted calmly, “Xavion Tolkien and Titus Yanev, both of you are from the military. Don't you have any respect for me, the highest-ranked official in the military? Why aren't you greeting me with a salute?”
The duo exchanged glances with each other.
Titus scoffed, “Haha! Nathan Cross, we are here to arrest you as instructed by Major-General Long and Mr. Holmes. We don't want to launch an attack on the White House. Hence, you'd better surrender so you won't cause trouble to the others or bring harm to innocents.”
In the blink of an eye, the rebel troops were whipped up by his words. That's right! Nathan Cross is still the Chief Military Governor at the moment. Even though the President suffers from a critical illness, he is still alive! How could we disturb the peace impulsively? Aren't we considered traitors by doing so?
Xavion and Titus grew agitated when they sensed their men seemed to have been swayed by Nathan's words. Unexpectedly, Nathan had instigated their men effortlessly with just a few sentences.
Stifling his surging fury, Titus lowered his voice to instruct the sniper next to him, “Fire now and finish Nathan Cross off!”
“Yes, Sir!” The sniper hiding among the rebel troops aimed at Nathan with his sniper rifle and pulled the trigger.
