Colin, Myron, and the others were staring intently at Nathan and Raytor, trying to figure out who won the fight.
However, none of them could figure it out.
At the same time, Hepburn was mumbling to herself, “Who had the upper hand?”
Outside the town, tens of thousands of the members of the werewolf clan were also wondering about the same thing as they stared at Nathan and Raytor.
Like Colin and the others, the werewolves also couldn't tell who had the upper hand.
No one but Steen knew the answer to the question. With his sharp senses, he sensed that Nathan's breathing was stable and deep. On the other hand, Raytor's breathing wasn't. Hence, it was obvious that Raytor was injured.
A rare look of concern manifested in Steen's eyes. He then turned toward the dozens of priests and whispered, “It's rare to see a human as strong as Nathan. It's even safe to say he's the strongest human ever. Our king is going up against his strongest opponent. For the sake of assurance, we need to help Alpha Wolf.”
The priests were stunned when they heard those words.
After that, they nodded in unison and said, “We'll heed your commands, Lord Steen.”
Steen nodded. “Get ready to cooperate with me. We need to perform a sacrificial ritual to ask for Wolf God's protection for our king. That way, our king will win against Nathan.”
“Understood!” the priests replied in unison.
Right then, the chiefs, the nine War Gods, and the other leaders noticed Steen and the other priests acting weirdly.
Instantly, they knew something was up. Alpha Wolf is in battle now, so Lord Steen is in charge.
Steen made a decisive decision and ordered, “Chiefs, War Gods, and other leaders, listen to me! Half of you will protect the priests, while the other half is going to launch an attack on the town. Kill those humans!”
Upon hearing that, the chiefs, War Gods, and other leaders of the werewolf clan proceeded to execute Steen's orders.
At once, half of the chiefs, War Gods, and the other leaders led their subordinates to attack the town.
On the other hand, the other half of the werewolves immediately surrounded Steen and the other priests so that they could start the ritual.
Seeing that, Colin shouted in a deep voice, “Those fellows are attacking in desperation. Everyone, prepare for battle!”
“Let's fight in the name of the Curia and justice! Fight!” Hepburn shouted.
“Let's fight!” the bishops and warriors of the Curia yelled.
Yet, most of those two to three thousand travelers and bounty hunters were unfazed. After all, they were only there for the rewards.
Seeing that, Colin knew Hepburn's war cry could only motivate the people from the Curia instead of the travelers and bounty hunters. I need to do something else to motivate this bunch of people.
Holding that thought, Colin shouted, “The enemy force is strong, so the only way to come out of this alive is to fight ferociously! On behalf of President Cross of Eurasia, those who can kill the werewolves aren't only going to receive rewards from the Curia, but they're also going to receive rewards from the Headquarters of the Chief Military Governor of Eurasia! In other words, the rewards are now doubled! Charge!”
Indeed, those people could only be motivated by monetary rewards. When those travelers and bounty hunters that relied on monetary rewards to ensure their survival heard what Colin said, their eyes lit up at once.
For them, receiving double rewards was a hundred times more practical than what Hepburn had said earlier.
