At the Hundred Nations Gods of War Alliance's temporary headquarters, Eugene IV and more than a hundred War Gods from various countries were giving Nathan a grand welcome upon his return.
Amidst the crowd, Wolfric naturally stood in the center due to his position as commander-in-chief.
However, he wore a grim expression as he looked out toward the royal carriage that had emerged from afar. That was when his gaze quickly fell upon Nathan.
Together with him, tens of thousands of people filled the streets to celebrate Nathan's return. The men were shouting jubilantly while the women swooned in admiration.
The sight of Nathan being given a hero's welcome filled Wolfric with jealousy as he watched on with an insidious glint in his eyes.
It was obvious to everyone beside him that he was upset with how the crowd was hailing Nathan's return.
After all, he hadn't expected Nathan to defeat Raytor and return triumphantly.
Fortunately, those standing around him were either his subordinates or men from allied countries. Thus, the scowl on his face wasn't unexpected at all.
In fact, when Jetroina's God of War, Eiken, saw Wolfric's gloomy expression, he instantly knew what the latter's concerns were. Hence, he whispered, “Mr. Welz, I'm surprised that Nathan actually defeated Raytor and returned alive.”
Upon hearing those words, Wolfric glowered with greater intensity as he shot Eiken a silent glare.
The burning rage he was exuding didn't escape Eiken's notice.
The latter explained immediately, “Mr. Welz, please don't misunderstand. Now that you've lost your bet with Nathan and are required to hand over the commander-in-chief's position, we should think of a way to stop it.”
Eiken's concern was exactly what Wolfric was worried about.
