Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 3388

In no time at all, a towering middle-aged man with silver hair followed Anoud inside. The man was dressed in adventurer attire and had eyes as sharp as an eagle's.

Even though he had already restrained his aura, his body still exuded an overwhelming presence.

From the moment he stepped into the study, Eugene IV could already feel the oppressive aura of a formidable presence.

“Pope Eugene!”

With a weathered face yet an aura of undiminished nobility, Havik lowered his head to show reverence to Eugene IV.

Eugene IV inclined his head a fraction. “You're here, Havik.”

After he finished his sentence, he took a gander at Anoud next to the man deliberately.

Anoud took the hint and left the room right away.

Just like that, only Eugene IV and Havik were left in the study.

Havik cut to the chase and questioned, “Pope Eugene, how can I be of use to you?”

Eugene IV, too, did not beat around the bush. “I'll need you to handle an issue personally.”

“What would that be?”

Havik was somewhat taken aback, for the Curia was teeming with experts, and there were quite a few skilled individuals among the Shadow Guards, so he could only wonder what the issue could possibly be that Eugene IV had specifically requested his personal involvement.

Eugene IV then shared his observations with Havik, noting that something seemed off about Nathan. He also mentioned that he had received insights from a bondslave, a captive from the alliance, claiming that Nathan was the new ruler of the vampires.

Hearing a statement like that, Havik was rather surprised. “Pope Eugene, haven't you already the Holy Maiden to investigate? Why do you still—”

“She'll act on the surface while you'll operate in the dark!” interrupted Eugene IV.

“She's the most suitable candidate for the investigation. However, she firmly believes that Nathan isn't a vampire. This bias she has could affect her judgment. I'm worried about her. Do me a favor, will you? Embark to Eurasia discreetly. While you're there, look into Nathan and see if there's anything fishy about him.”

Havik nodded. “Understood!”

Before Nathan had the chance to part his lips and say a word, Penny came out of the bedroom as well with the baby boy in her arms, laughing while correcting Queenie, “Nonsense. He's just turned one month old. How could he possibly learn to speak so soon? He finished his milk just now and was smacking his lips. You must've mistaken the sound he made.”

“No matter what, I know I heard it a minute ago. He did say my name,” insisted Queenie.

Everyone could not help but guffaw heartily.

Penny cradled the baby and sat down next to Nathan. Wearing a sweet grin, she cooed, “Hubby, we haven't named our son yet. You should hurry up and give him a name.”

It went without saying that deciding the boy's name was Nathan's call to make, for he was the patriarch of the family.

The whole family was staring at Nathan at that juncture.

Gently gazing at his son in his wife's embrace, Nathan smiled and pronounced, “I have a simple wish. I want him to grow up healthy and strong. When he's all grown up, I hope he'll become someone great who contributes to our beloved country. That would be more than enough for me. So, let's name the boy Jerrick Cross!”

The family members were all psyched about the name Jerrick and could barely wait for the boy to grow up and lead a successful life.

Benson, Leah, and the rest of the family gave the nod to that name. Penny, in particular, was beaming with joy, holding her son in her embrace. “Little baby, did you hear that? Daddy has named you. From now on, you'll be Jerrick!”
