Eddie's face turned grim as he slowly said, “Is it really such a big deal that a few insignificant lives were lost? Do you really need to make such a fuss over a trivial matter like that?”
Since ancient times, the religious authorities had always been held in high regard and long contended with royal power in Adrunian society, even surpassing it at times.
For this very reason, Eddie and those from the highest echelons of the Curia naturally felt that they were superior to everyone else.
He simply didn't value ordinary lives and considered them to be expendable.
However, after hearing his words, Fang's scowl deepened.
“A few insignificant lives?
“You murdered Larry and Abigail in their rental house and ran over members of the traffic police, killing and maiming them. This is simply outrageous. Yet you belittle the situation and question us for taking it seriously?”
Eddie said, “Those from the lower rungs of society are nothing but insects, aren't they? I believe Mr. Cross wouldn't want to spark conflict with the Curia over such a trivial matter, so is all this really necessary?”
With an icy voice, Fang said, “I'm sorry, but I've been serving under Mr. Cross for many years. From what I know about him, he will go ballistic once he finds out and definitely punish you with his own hands. But to kill you three rabid dogs, there's no need for him to do it himself. The three of us are more than enough for the task.”
Upon hearing Fang labeling them as rabid dogs, Eddie felt anger welling up from within. With a glowering face, he retorted, “It seems you've no intention of showing us any respect.”
Fang said, “Our principle has always been to welcome friends with open arms and to welcome enemies with the tips of our spears. Either you raise your hands to surrender and face the consequences of our law, or the three of us will eliminate you right where you stand. Now, choose!”
Eddie frowned before lifting his gaze to look at the villa before him. He knew very well that Hepburn was hiding inside.
No matter what, he simply couldn't miss the opportunity to capture her.
When he exchanged glances with his two companions, all of them decided to take the risk. They would first defeat Fang and his men before capturing Hepburn.
As for the loose ends, they would either be tied up by Baccio's or Eugene IV's men.
He said to Fang with an icy tone, “Since you guys refuse to show any respect and insist on getting in our way, the three of us will play this little game of yours.”
