Chapter Sixty-Six: The City
It was a quiet night, with very few cars on the road. Most everyone was already at home snuggled up with their lovers or at one of the few clubs that would be going until dawn.
That’s what I planned to do. Snuggling up with Tillie after a good fuck sounded like the perfect way to end the night
A cool breeze ruffled my hair and I breathed in the smells of the city. The lingering exhaust fumes that seemed to be soaked into the concrete. The smell of all the people. It all mixed together, comforting me in a way that I couldn’t explain.
I was going to miss this. The quiet time alone walking the streets. The city when it was in those early hours.
I was thankful to have found my mate but I knew that I was going to have to leave this place behind. I couldn’t imagine being away from Tillie every night and I couldn’t ask Ryan and Jason to move up here. Not when I knew how much they preferred living away from the city. Both men had rooms and the pack house. They needed our pack, being with them made both men feel whole and I knew that I couldn’t take it away from them.
I wasn’t like Jason or Ryan. Even though I was a member of the pack and Jason’s beta. I preferred to be on my own.
We were pack animals, but I could have easily stayed on my own. Going rogue after some time. I hadn’t always been part of the pack. Being part of them was still a new thing for me.
I had grown up in a pack. It was nothing like the pack that Jason ran. He didn’t control his pack mem bers; he let them live their lives. He protected them when they needed it. Comforted them and gave them a purpose.

He had given me a purpose. When I had been at my lowest, unsure of what to do with myself. Jason had been there. Things had turned around for me when I met him. It would be something that I would al ways be thankful for.
I just knew that I couldn’t stay with the memories of the past. It seemed like tonight they didn’t want to go away.
Turning down the street to my apartment building, I picked up my pace. Making my way up to the brown brick building before passing the broken elevator. I jogged up the stairs until I reached the second floor.
Pulling the keys from my pocket, I unlocked the door to my apartment. It was dark and quiet, but to me, it smelled like peace. I stepped inside, letting the door close behind me. Tossing my keys onto the coffee table, I walked into the living room. Past the small blue couch that sat in front of the television and down the hallway to my bedroom. I didn’t bother with the lights, that was time wasted that I didn’t want to spend.
There were things that I wanted to pick up before I headed to the pack house. I wasn’t sure how long! would be staying, but I knew that I could take care of my lease and the furniture later.
Sam was pretty cool for a demon and I doubted that he would give me any shit if I needed to cancel my lease. He knew how it was when shifters found their mates,
I pulled my duffle bag out of the closet and tossed it onto my dresser. I tossed in some jeans and a few 1-shirts, enough clothing for a few days. I threw in the latest book that I had been reading, Jason had plenty of books in his room, but most of them I had already read. I doubted that I would get much time to read, but maybe I could sneak in a few pages when Tillie wag resting.
Picking up my bag, I took it over to my bed. Dropping it onto my bed, I moved down to my knees, pulling out a thick, flat brown wooden chest. There were no markings on it, but the outside wasn’t what was impor tant. I opened it up, looking at the assortment of colorful toys inside. I knew that some men were put off by using toys on their partners,
I had never had a problem with it. They weren’t my enemy, anything that could take Tillle higher, make
it all better for her, was something that I wanted. I selected a few different ones, putting them into my bag Just thinking about her writhing on the bed as I worked her body over until she came had me about to bust a nut without even touching myself.
My mate had better be ready for me because I was ready for her. Hopefully, Jason and Ryan hadn’t worn her out too much.
Sucking in a shaking breath, I picked up my bag, zipping it up before tossing it over my shoulder | made my way back to the front door. Picking up my keys, I opened the door
I looked back into my apartment before walking out the door. Closing the door behind me, I locked my apartment up. It filled me with a bittersweet feeling. I would be back, but I knew I would be moving into the pack house.
Making my way down the stairs, I jogged over to my truck. I opened the door, tossing my bag onto the seat before climbing in and starting it up. I was going to Tillie, my mate was waiting for me
My wolf was excited, just like I was. He was ready to be near his mate. Soon, I was going to have to shift for her so that they could meet. I just hope it didn’t scare her.
Pulling out of the parking lot, I navigated my truck onto the road. The tires screeched loudly as I hauled ass out of the city
