Seal of Light - Enlightened novel Chapter 10

Mat and Rigs was running for their lives inside this mysterious jungle.

“Mat, I never thought that thing would take my threat seriously, I would like to take it back now…”

“Shut up and run faster Rigs, we almost died from the last attack that he did…” Mat said gasping for air.

Streaking toward them from behind was a huge log thrown to them by this unknown creature who was pursuing them right from where the two female dryads lefts them.

"This is a silly way to die!" Rigs said while bursting his remaining energy to overrun Mat.

“Eventually, we will drain out and he will catch us, we must fight back Rigs!”

“Do you have a plan in mind Mat?”

“Rigs, can you use your whip to hold him at least to buy me a few seconds to attack him?”

“I’ll try, get ready Mat…” Rigs said while parting away from Mat and extending his ki-whip from his fist.

Mat’s seal lit up as he watch his friend maneuvered to a rear position from the creature that was chasing them.

Rigs swing his whip in full force to tangle the creature’s feet, he tried to pull the whip to close the feet together but it didn’t work, so he rolled sideward to entangle one of the creature’s arm. Rigs was able to cord one arm but was caught in the process.

Mat did not wasted any second and rushed forward spearing his ki-blade towards the creature that was now lifting Rigs. With an additional burst from a quick leap, Mat pressed his blade to the chest of the creature.

The creature slowly turned his view to Mat who was still trying to press his blade deeper.

“I admire your courage, young Mat Adam and Rigs Perez, but by now the both of you should have realized the difference of our strength and power, and that you do not have any slight chance of defeating me.”

“He knows our name Mat.” Rigs whispered.

The creature released an evil wave of unseen energy from his body that made both Mat and Rig spin around, hit the ground and rolled away from him.

“Your young master should have thought of training you further before sending you both to this mission. But he had no choice because he could not fulfill this mission alone, so he took the risk of bringing all available help there is, even his unprepared amateur students.”

The creature stood tall as he gaze down on Mat and Rigs who was still on their back and tendering their aching bodies.

“Who are you?” Rigs asked.

“Enji Oni” The creature said as he prepares to stomp on Mat and Rigs.

A huge beam of light struck from nowhere hitting and creating a giant hole on the creature’s chest.

“What…”

Mat and Rigs stood up and watch as the creature crawl back covering the hole on his chest with his hand.

“You have escaped death this time, but we will meet again Mat Adam and Rigs Perez.” The creature said while fading away to the dark side of the forest.

“That was our second win, but did we win by luck again? And where did that very powerful shot came from?” Rigs asked

Mat was tracing the direction from where the shot could possibly originate.”Let’s follow this path Rigs.”

“I hope we won’t run into another battle anytime soon, we could slow down a bit to recover our strength Mat.”

After more than a half mile walk, they saw a figure of another black pillar. They are not sure but they knew they saw a young boy standing in front of it.”

They moved closer and took cover from a wide old tree.

“Yeah, it’s a boy alright, but could he did that powerful shot awhile ago?” Rigs replied with a much exaggerated suspicious look.

Mat paused for a second and gave this serious look at Rigs.

Rigs was not sure how to respond so he made more funny faces instead.

“OK Rigs seriously, here’s the plan.”

----------

Rigs slowly sneaked to the next tree, moving closer to the mysterious boy who was standing before and facing the black pillar.

“OK, here goes…”

To Rigs’ surprise, just before he made his next move, the boy suddenly appeared standing in front of him.

“N-no, d- did he just performed a quick leap?” Rigs thought while standing frozen with his cheeks randomly palpitating.

The young boy stood still in front of Rigs and gave him a blank stare.

“Is he waiting for my next move? Is he trying to read my mind at the moment? Is this another possessed person?” Rigs thought as he stood motionless and returned a flattened stare to the young boy.

After several moments of silence, both of them felt the bullet speed movement occurred near the pillar.

“So you guys figured out how to free the captive soul huh?” the young boy ended the long absence of words between them and said in a very calm and soft toned manner.

“He talked to me! Did he saw that too? Did he know I had company?” Rigs thought as he raised his eyebrows, slowly looking back to the boy.
