Serenity and Zachary York novel Chapter 1963

Celine wanted to argue for herself, but she just lowered her head and apologized to her mom when she saw her serious face.

“Mom, I’m sorry. It was my fault this time.”

She took two steps forward and affectionately took Madam Fisher’s arm as she said coquettishly, “Mom, I know I was wrong, so don’t be mad. I just really adore Mr. Hayden. It was competitive, to begin with, and Mr. Kevin is in the picture now. We can’t get close to Mr. Hayden because we’re women.

“On the other hand, Mr. Kevin can get close to Mr. Hayden such that Mr. Hayden’s bodyguards can’t do anything to him. He’s even openly pursuing Mr. Hayden and arranged a sea of flowers in front of Queen Enterprise.

“I was jealous of Mr. Kevin, so I couldn’t help but do that at that moment. I didn’t expect him to react so quickly. Instead of tripping him, I tripped over him. The fall was so painful, and I also embarrassed myself.”

Celine gritted her teeth again at the thought of her fall earlier.

She had never been so humiliated before.

“Mom, don’t be angry, okay? I promise I won’t make such lowly mistakes in the future. Also, how could Caroline not come to help me first thing when she saw me fall? Emma was right—she was happy to see me make a fool of myself.”

Right after she finished, Madam Fisher poked her forehead and said, “Carol was eating, and Mr. Hayden suddenly looked for her. She didn’t even react when you fell and said she was baffled at that time, so how could she go to help you?

“Carol was raised in the countryside and didn’t undergo self-defense training, so her reaction is slow. You’ve learned a bit of that but were still beaten by Mr. Kevin. Why did you offend someone you shouldn’t?

“This is your problem and your mistake, so don’t always blame it on Carol. At the end of the day, she’s still my daughter. Remember—she wouldn’t have suffered so much grievance if not for your dad.

“You owe her, so don’t always act as if she snatched everything from you.”

Madam Fisher knew it all but just did not point things out.

She was getting older and would no longer have the energy to manage the Fishers’ affairs in a few years. At that time, she would need to consider retiring and letting the heir take the throne.
