Serenity and Zachary York novel Chapter 2906

Martin shifted to a new spot and even patted the one beside him, gesturing for his son to sit.

Callum sat down and took a look at the large brocade box before his mother. He asked softly, “Dad, what has Mom dug out for my wife this time?”

“It’s a set of jewelry from her dowry. They’re vintage. Your mom wore them once when she was young and put them away after. She took them out because she suddenly remembered them. That set suits your wife quite well because she’s tall and has a naturally dignified aura, she’ll be able to pull it off.”

Callum smiled. “Mom’s already given quite a few sets of jewelry from her dowry to Camryn, and now she’s giving more? I have two younger brothers. Mom will have two more daughters-in-law in the future, you know.”

Of course, he was glad that his mother was willing to give valuable things to Camryn, but he thought she should leave some to his two future sisters-in-law, lest they say that his mother was biased, which would be bad for the family’s harmony.

Callum also felt that his wife did not need more jewelry. She had not even worn all the jewelry he had given her yet.

Martin said, “Your mother and your aunts all have their own little caches of jewelry. It’s not like you don’t know that. There’s still a lot of jewelry in storage. When your mom married me, her dowry could fill dozens of boxes. The house was stuffed full with them.”

“You’re the eldest son and Camryn is the eldest daughter-in-law, so your mom dotes on her the most. She declared long ago that her jewelry would be inherited by her three daughters-in-law. It’s normal for the eldest to inherit a little more.

“Your future sisters-in-law probably won’t mind. Your nana values character the most when she picks a granddaughter-in-law. If they’re the petty and jealous type, your nana definitely won’t pick them. Don’t worry.”

Callum pouted and whispered, “Dad, don’t you think Mom’s stolen my thunder? She keeps giving my wife so much jewelry, plus Camryn’s the filial type, so she’ll definitely wear what Mom has given her. Then Mom will have taken my place and the jewelry I’ve given Camryn will just end up hidden away, covered in dust.”

Martin laughed. “Go complain to your mom. It’s no use saying all that to me. All of Wiltspoon knows I’m whipped for my wife.”

Callum was speechless.

Why did he feel like his dad was particularly proud when he said he was whipped for his wife?
