Serenity and Zachary York novel Chapter 3065

Darren said gently, “I can go shopping with you tomorrow evening.”

Caroline smiled. “You’ve been extremely busy lately, and you have more things to handle than I do. Since I rarely get a day off, you should rest too.

“Just as you said, even the healthiest person won’t be able to handle working at such high intensity every day.”

Darren was busier than Caroline. He had to know a lot of things.

Whenever she asked him something, he needed to provide an answer and help her.

As for some minor issues, he would also handle them by himself without needing her approval.

That was why he was way busier than she was.

“I’m fine. I’m used to it. The training I went through was harder than this, yet I’ve overcome it.”

Since Caroline wanted to walk, Darren walked beside her along the path outside the hotel.

He was focused on her all along.

If she were to shiver, he would immediately take off his jacket and put it on her.

However, Caroline did not feel cold at all.

She worked indoors where there were heaters. Otherwise, she would either be in the car or her house. To put it simply, she would always be in a warm environment.

Despite walking in the cold, her clothes were of good quality and kept her warm throughout.

Besides, she had only been outside for a short while.

A little cold was nothing.

That being said, Caroline had been afraid of winters when she was young.

During wintertime, her adoptive parents would prepare warm winter clothes for her brothers whereas she had to wear her brothers’ hand-me-downs. Even then, her brothers were awful to her and often snatched those clothes away, leaving her empty-handed.

She would always get so cold that her lips turned purple, and she would constantly shiver.

Her situation only improved slightly when their neighbors criticized her adoptive parents for treating their only daughter poorly and even freezing her to death.

“You should make some friends, Ms. Caroline,” said Darren.

“You can meet up with them during the weekends.”

After a moment of silence, Caroline said, “Aside from Ms. Hayden, you must be aware of how others treat me. If they aren’t sincere, why should I pretend to be friends with them?

“Just a small chat whenever we meet is enough.

“To be honest, I’d rather go shopping with you than them.”

Caroline was speedy with her purchases. She would always prepare a shopping list beforehand. She would then head straight to the stores and leave once she bought everything.

She liked getting things done quickly.

Those elite daughters could never agree with her. They did not like her shopping style.

Only Hayden shared the same sentiment as Caroline.
