“Thank you for your concern. She’s fine.”
“Why isn’t she dropping her nephew off, then?”
Zachary said coldly, “It’s raining and the weather’s getting colder. Is there something wrong with letting my wife sleep in? Is there a rule stipulating she has to send Sonny to preschool?”
Carrie was struck speechless.
“I heard from my wife that you have to send your sister-in-law to preschool every day despite such weather. They don’t care about you at all.” Once Zachary was done, he turned and left, paying Carrie no more attention. He would not have said anything if Carrie did not bring up Serenity.
Carrie simply was at a loss for words. Although she was not the real Mrs. Longbottom and did not actually have siblings-in-law who were still studying, she could not help but compare herself to Serenity at Zachary’s words.
She was envious of Serenity for having such a good life. Who was Zachary? He would never have done such a thing in the past. He was so busy and time was so precious to him that he would never have wasted it or even thought of such a trivial matter. He could just arrange for a bodyguard or a driver to send Sonny to preschool.
However, Zachary was now personally dropping Sonny off. It was like he had plenty of time after he got married and was not as busy as he was before. He stopped seeming so lofty and appeared more down-to-earth now.
