Chapter 115 Where’s the Baby? Is the Baby Alright?
When Nancy was placed on a bed in the emergency room, everything was already ready to go.
The bright light above her head was blinding.
However, she kept her eyes open.
It wasn’t only open but wide open.
Was she afraid?
Of course, she was terrified. Her body was trembling, and she felt icy cold.
Yet, the more afraid she was, the more she wanted to stay awake, to etch this pain into her mind.
In the operating room, there was a group of people-the ob-gyn professor, ob-gyn doctors. nurses, and an anesthesiologist.
The blood was still flowing from beneath her, and her lower abdomen was cramping.
“Professor Wembley, please. I beg you to save this child. I can’t lose him,” Nancy pleaded with Professor Wembley, who was looking at her with a kind expression.
“Don’t worry, young lady. I will do my best. Now, just listen to me and don’t think about anything.” Professor Wembley said in a soothing tone.
“Okay.”
She was quickly given local anesthesia, which still kept her alert throughout the procedure.
Although she couldn’t feel her lower body, she remained conscious. Her eyes could see basins filled with blood being taken away in her current state. She could also observe the nurses bustling about with worried expressions.
Soon, not only the blood but also the gauze and cotton used for hemostasis were soaked in a deep red color.
The scene was terrifying, but she didn’t shed even a single tear.
She shivered and comforted herself frantically, Nancy, you have to be strong. Don’t be afraid. Your baby will be fine as long as you remain strong Baby, stay strong. Believe that both of us will get through this.
She clenched her fist, inwardly encouraging herself through this ordeal.
A blood bag was hung on her hand.
She looked up to see the blood slowly flowing into her body. Yet, it couldn’t compensate for the loss happening below.

She was exhausted and no longer had any strength left.
She was also feeling extremely drowsy.
Her strength was slowly depleting even though she had desperately been trying to stay awake. Unfortunately, she no longer had energy left to spare.
“I’m sorry, baby. I’m so, so sorry.” Nancy cried tears of pain after muttering those words.
She could no longer withstand the pull of sleep and shut her eyes, falling into an endless pit of darkness.
She couldn’t remember how long she slept, but she was in a hospital bed by the time she regained consciousness, her entire body weak and devoid of strength.
The hospital room was spacious and well-equipped, but it felt empty and lacked even a hint of life.
When she looked up, a crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling, emitting white light in the dark night.
As she looked around, she suddenly murmured softly, “The light is so bright! It’s as piercing as the one in the emergency room.”
Although she was speaking, her eyes seemed to wander aimlessly, as if a soul had lost all vitality.
“If you don’t like it, I can have it replaced, replied the voice.
Nancy turned her head slightly at the sound. When she saw Christian’s familiar handsome face, she cracked a faint smile and commented, “It’s fine. I was just saying.”
“Thank you for bringing me to the hospital, and thank you for saving me. I feel bad because it seems like I keep getting more and more indebted to you every single time we meet,” she added.
Christian stepped closer, gently pushing her disheveled hair behind her ear. His warm voice. comfortingly responded, “Then, hurry up and recover. I’m still waiting for you to treat me to coffee. The coffee last time was so great that I’ve spent a great deal of time thinking about it.”
Nancy’s dull eyes suddenly lit up at that. Alas, it quickly faded.
Recover? But could she truly recover?
She might not be able to recover without her hope, her strength, and the very thing that was motivating her to push forward.
Although she hadn’t asked Christian whether the doctors had saved her child, it felt as though fate had already determined her path. From the moment she woke up and touched her belly, she sensed that her baby was gone, and she had failed to save him.
Even though she had done everything in her power to save her baby, nothing worked out. Her

baby was gone.
The baby didn’t stay; the baby didn’t want her.
She wanted to cry, but she desperately held her tears back.
“Christian, I have a question.” Nancy finally opened her mouth.
Although she knew it was a done deal, she knew she shouldn’t hope or delude herself… She still wanted to hold onto the tiniest bit of hope.
Even if it was just a sliver, she still wanted to know.
When Christian looked at Nancy lying weakly in bed, his heart was filled with the weight of words. he wanted to say to comfort her.
He knew exactly what she wanted to ask, but the answer was not something she could bear
He wanted to say, “Nancy, don’t think about anything. Let’s focus on recovering.”
He also wanted to say, “Nancy, don’t be sad. You can have another child in the future. Your recovery is the priority for now.”
But when the words reached his lips, he found his throat parched, and he couldn’t utter a single word.
Didn’t she know the truth?
Did she really want to hear these words?
No. Definitely not.
“Sure. Go ahead and ask,” Christian finally responded, trying to make his voice sound calm and steady.
“Is the baby…”
Nancy choked up halfway through the sentence.
She had convinced herself to be strong, but she finally realized how hard it was when it was time to let the question out.
This time, Nancy used all the strength left in her body as she asked tremulously, “Is the baby gone?”
She felt her energy drain out of her body after asking the question that had been plaguing her.
Nonetheless, she clung to the last shred of hope as she looked at Christian with anticipation.
Christian parted his lips and uttered each word with a heavy heart, “I’m sorry, Nancy. I can’t give
