Seven Days Seven Nights (Nicholas and Nancy) novel Chapter 168

Chapter 168 A Secret Love Hidden In The Heart

Nancy chuckled at his question. It felt as though no one had asked her that for a very long time. “Do I love him? Of course, I do, and I’ve loved him for ten years.”

Despite their divorce, she thought about him, missed him, and loved him every day and night. Her love for him was deep and painful; how could she not love him?

The wind rustled her silky, long hair. Smiling, she gently flipped her hair and met Christian’s gaze as she answered his question seriously, “Of course, I love him.” Lowering her head, she added softly. “I’ve loved him for ten years. How could I not love him?”

Ten years? Suddenly, that number burned deeply into Christian’s heart. Has it really been ten years?

From the look in her eyes to every move she made, he had already known for a long time that she was in love with Nicholas. However, he never imagined that she had loved him for ten long years!

Ten years, he thought. How many ten years does a person have in their lives? Especially for a girl who is in the prime of her youth for only about ten years, but she gave all of it to a man named Nicholas. She only loves him.

At that moment, he stared at her and felt exceptionally calm, as well as heartbroken. Maybe in ten years-another ten years-the person she loved would still be that youth in her memories.

As for him, perhaps he would just be another speck of dust, washed away by time.

Right now, he was glad that he had always been her friend and happy that he had never revealed his true feelings. Otherwise, he reckoned that they couldn’t even be friends.

anymore.

Furthermore, he didn’t imagine that he, Christian Zayn, the man who could literally terrorize his enemies on battlefields, would be so jittery one day.

“Christian, thank you for talking to me. After speaking with you, I feel much better, but what I just told you has always been a secret in my heart. I’m sharing it with you in hopes that you’ll keep it a secret for

me.”

Christian was surprised by her request. “Do you mean he doesn’t know?”

She nodded in reply. “Yeah, he has no idea.”

“It’s been such a long time, and you love him so deeply. Why didn’t you tell him?”

“I did, but sadly…” She lowered her head and chuckled, her laugh filled with bitterness and sadness. “He said he doesn’t want to listen. I tried twice, but he missed both times.” Keeping a smile on her face, she raised her head and gently wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes before continuing, “Well, you know that I’m a girl, and that makes me easily embarrassed. To be rejected by the same person-a person I love so deeply, at that twice, I won’t have the courage to try again, even if I’m a brave person. Moreover…” He doesn’t love me.

The last part of the sentence never left her lips, and she merely kept it in her heart. It already hurt her enough when she didn’t say it, and it would only hurt her more if she said it out loud.

When they reached the hospital and Nancy climbed out of the car, Christian received a call. He looked calm, not a single shred of emotion in his eyes, and nobody knew what the other party said, but all he gave was a simple reply. “Okay, I’m going.” Then, he hung up.

Meanwhile, Nancy had entered the main gates of the hospital and was about to step in when Christian bolted toward her out of the blue and came to a stop in front of her. “What’s up?” she asked, surprised that he was running to her.

“I just want to tell you that I’m embarking on my next mission.”

For a full minute, she was in a daze before finally snapping back to her senses. “Didn’t you just return? Why are you leaving so quickly again?”

“It’s an order from my superior. He paused for a second and added, “But I agreed to take up the

mission.”

Her mouth was agape for a long while before she asked. “Is it dangerous?”

“A little, maybe.”

“Can’t you not go?” she asked.

Christian smiled and stroked her soft hair. His smile was as bright as the afternoon sun-so warm that it could warm up a person. “Silly girl, even if I don’t go, someone else will. Since I’ve chosen this profession. I’ll have to face the challenges anytime.”

Undoubtedly, Nancy knew what he meant. She knew it all too well, and that was why she felt sad. Why are there still so many dangers in this world? Why can’t everyone live happily and peacefully?

Perhaps she was feeling emotional; she suddenly spun around, fighting back her tears. “Wait for me for a second!” she said and ran away.

She ran to her department and grabbed a box of wedding sweets from her drawer. After that, she ran downstairs and pushed the sweets into Christian’s hand.

“This is for you. No matter how long you’re away and whatever your mission is, I hope that you’ll come back safe and sound. These are wedding sweets, which are packed with luck and fortune. I haven’t eaten any of them and hope that they’ll bring you luck,” she said, choking up.

Opening his arms, Christian hugged her gently for less than three seconds and broke away quickly

“Then, may I make a wish with you?” he asked.

“What wish?”
