Seven Days Seven Nights (Nicholas and Nancy) novel Chapter 17

Chapter 17 Mrs Sallow Was Pregnant

“I told her, Nicholas admitted decisively.

Nancy smiled bitterly. Even though she had already guessed it, she wanted to hear him say it.

“So, who’s the one in such a hurry? I promised to discuss the divorce with Grandpa after his birthday. Of course, I’ll get back our marriage certificate. You don’t need to remind me like this.”

“I won’t forget,” Nicholas reassured her.

After Nancy finished speaking, her eyes turned red.

She felt incredibly uneasy. It was a discomforting feeling.

He could have asked her straightforwardly to retrieve the documents if he wanted to.

Why is there a need to use Madelline as an intermediary?

Nicholas looked at her with a hint of guilt. Although he didn’t bring up this matter, he still indirectly caused it.

Yesterday, after Madelline woke up, she cried in his arms, saying she was petrified that she would die and never seeing him again.

So she proposed getting a marriage certificate first and wait until everyone in his family accepted their relationship before having the wedding ceremony.

“Madelline, getting the marriage certificate might be postponed.”

“Why? Nicholas, do you know how scared I was when I was in a coma after the car accident? I was afraid I would die and never become your bride.”

“Grandpa keeps the marriage certificate of Nancy and me. We need to get those documents to proceed with the divorce and the wedding.”

Nicholas accidentally revealed the information.

Unexpectedly, she remembered it and used it to request Nancy.

During the rest of the journey, Nancy remained silent. She leaned against the window, quietly watching the passing scenery outside.

The old house of the Sallows was far from the bustling city. It was among the mountains and rivers with beautiful scenery.

It resembled the mountain behind her childhood home in her village.

Time flies so fast. Ten years have passed in a flash.

She has been gone from there, stayed in the Sallows, and loved him for ten years.

Ten years, the most beautiful and youthful time for a woman, she gave all her love at first sight, all her heartbeats, all her secret crushes to the same man.

And now?

Nancy extended her fingers, counting them one by one, today, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow.

The day after tomorrow is Grandpa’s birthday.

Once that day passes, they will proceed with the divorce.

So, starting now, they only have three days of marriage left.

She wished these ten fingers could keep counting if she could, with no end in sight.

As she counted her fingers, Nancy felt drowsy.

Perhaps because she had been exhausted that morning, she fell asleep as soon as she lay down.

Soon, she heard Nicholas’ gentle voice, “Are you tired?”

In her half-asleep state, she felt like he was holding her.

She couldn’t help but think his arms were so vast and comfortable.

Nancy closed her eyes, shifted in his embrace, and found a comfortable position before falling into a deep sleep.

When she woke up, she felt like everything in front of her was moving. Even the clouds floating in the sky were gently drifting.

What’s going on?

The next moment, she heard Nicholas’ voice above her, “You’re awake!”

Nancy looked around and realized she was in his arms, being carried by him while he was walking. No wonder everything in front of her seemed moving, sometimes closer, sometimes farther away.

She reached out and rubbed her head, realizing she must have been half-asleep.

“How long have I been asleep?” Nancy asked.

I haven’t counted how long you slept, but your sleeping position resembles a little baby.”

Who is the little baby here?

Nancy thought even if she is asleep, she is still a sleeping beauty, right?

“Then you must be the baby,” Nancy answered defiantly.

They were getting close to the hall entrance when Nancy suddenly remembered Nicholas was still holding her. She quickly said, “We’re almost there. Put me down.”

“Put

you

down? Why?” Nicholas chuckled. “Isn’t this what Grandpa wants to see the most? Don’t you want to make him happy?”

What he said might be accurate, but it wasn’t how she wanted to go about it.

Moreover, Nicholas was doing that just for an act, and she didn’t appreciate his ulterior motives.

As they got closer, Nancy was getting more anxious. Still, Nicholas remained as composed as ever. without a hint of panic.

“Put me down now!”

Nancy pounded on his chest and exclaimed angrily,

“Quick, Nicholas.”

“Faster, we’re running out of time.”

Nicholas lowered his head, watching her cherry-red lips continue to chatter incessantly.

For some unknown reason, he suddenly acted recklessly. Before he could regret it, the words had already left his mouth.

“Give me a kiss, and I’ll let you down.”

“What?” Nancy was also stunned.

After two years of marriage, except when they were deeply emotional during their married life, they had never kissed each other casually.

Moreover, they were about to get a divorce, making it even more inappropriate to share a kiss

now.

Seeing Nancy hesitating, Nicholas felt an odd sense of frustration for some reason.

He loosened his grip, placing Nancy back on the ground, and his voice turned cold. “Never mind, it was just a test. Seems like you’re guarding yourself like a jade for that man.”

Nancy felt disheveled in the wind.

So, were his words just teasing her all along?

But why did she suddenly feel like someone was a little jealous?

“Big fool.

“You were such an idiot!”

“The man that you said was you.”

‘You were getting jealous of yourself.

Indeed, even if men don’t love someone, they absolutely cannot tolerate their woman being touched by others, not even the thought of having another man in her mind.

Nicholas was no exception, as he was an extremely domineering man.

When they entered the living room, Nancy smiled radiantly, saying, “Grandpa, we are home!”

However, there was no sign of Grandpa in the living room.
