Chapter 353
Lizetta’s voice through the phone was laced with a chill that was palpable even across the digital divide.
Remington paused, slightly taken aback. “You’ve got it all wrong. I just wanted to clarify things”
Lizetta wasn’t surprised that Hanna had gone running to Remington, probably exaggerating the story for effect.
She didn’t bother explaining hersell.
Her voice was cool, detached. “No need to ask me. Whatever your mom says goes.”
Remington’s brows knitted together. Lizetta, don’t be like this.”
A stifled laugh escaped Lizetta. “You’re mistaken. A woman throws a fit because she wants to be coddled. Is throwing a fit with you ever productive? Besides, only those who fear losing each other fuss and fight.”
If she was ready to walk away, there’d be no tantrums.
Just a heart gone cold.
Lizetta was about to end the call when another woman’s voice came through.
“Remington, did you skip breakfast to come to the hospital? I asked the housekeeper to pack something up for you from the hospital cafeteria. It’s not much, but it should tide you over”
Lizetta recognized the voice, even over the phone.
Truth be told, it was a pleasant, unpretentious voice.
It was Stella.
No wonder Remington had rushed out so early, eager to see his childhood friend.
Perhaps last night’s late return wasn’t due to overtime at the office after all.
With a self–deprecating smile, Lizetta didn’t hesitate to end the call,
In the hospital corridor.
Remington, phone still in hand, furrowed his brows.
He couldn’t quite grasp the meaning behind Lizetta’s words, but he sensed something was off about her demeanor towards him.
He turned, signaling the woman behind him to keep quiet, and pressed on.
“What do you mean by Tosing each other?”
But the line had already gone dead.
His concem deepened, confirming his suspicion that Lizetta was indeed upset with him.
He tried calling back, only to be sent straight to voicemail.
Thinking back on Hanna’s words about Lizetta storming out of the family home in a huff, he reached out to Cedric with a task.
“Find out where my wife went.”
After hanging up, he finally turned around,
“Sorry, I didn’t realize you were on a call. I hope I didn’t interrupt the woman apologized.
Remington’s voice softened, “It was my wife.”
The woman nodded, understanding, Suddenly, Remington asked, “Do pregnant women often get moody?”
“Ah?” The woman looked surprised.
Clearly, she hadn’t expected such a question from him
“Just this morning, my wife was fine. But during our call, she got really angry, and now she’s not answering my calls at all.”
The woman paused, then laughed unexpectedly
“What’s so funny?” Remington’s brows furrowed.

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
