"What are you doing!" Lizetta snapped out of her daze, instinctively stepping back in shock.
But Remington reached out, grabbing her slender wrist as if she were the only lifeline he had left.
His voice was hoarse and low, "Liz, I'm sorry."
"Get up! I don’t need your apology like this, brother you…"
Lizetta's voice trembled slightly as she tugged at Remington with all her might.
Maybe deep down she had already forgiven him, or perhaps after reflecting on the ups and downs of their fifteen-year history, she realized she owed him more.
She couldn't bear his apology.
Yet, her strength was no match for Remington.
Her back was covered in a light sweat from her efforts, akin to a beetle trying to shake a tree, with the man's figure remaining unmoved.
He looked up at her, his eyes filled with remorse.
"Liz, let me finish."
His large hand slid down from her slender wrist to hold her fingers.
As their fingers intertwined, Lizetta felt her heart tremble.
She stopped struggling and just looked at him intently.
"It was my utter foolishness, trapped by childhood memories, trusting the wrong people, that led to our current misery. I've been regretting it deeply.
I know some wounds are too deep and may never heal, but I want you not to easily give up on me, on our love.
The wound that has grown over your heart, tearing and festering day by day, is also here with me. Even small animals lick each other's wounds when hurt.
Let's come back together, heal each other, because no one understands your pain more than I do."
His words were like a boulder thrown into the lake of her heart, stirring up ripples of chaos.
Lizetta watched him, her eyes gradually reddening and tears burning down her cheeks.
Remington, seeing a glimmer of hope, gripped her hand tightly, leaning his forehead against her soft belly with reverence.

The readers' comments on the novel: Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington)
Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
