She Outshines Them All (Athena and Matthew) novel Chapter 181

Chapter 181
Once everyone got out of the car, they eagerly asked Alaric, “Is your taxi broken?”
Alaric shook his head. “No, we’ve arrived at my neighborhood.”
They had already noticed the prominent engravings of “Mid-Level Mountain Garden” and were astonished. “You live here?”
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Alaric rubbed his neck. “We only moved here a couple of months ago. The scenery is nice, and there’s plenty of shade. Let’s go in.”
He pulled out his resident card, swiped it to open the gate, and led the way.
As they walked through the entrance, everyone was struck by the beautiful surroundings and the villas.
Someone thought. ‘Only very wealthy families could live here, right? How could the Donovan family, rumored to be poor, afford such a place? Was Alaric bringing us to a relative’s house and pretending it was his?”
Of course, they weren’t foolish enough to ask such a sensitive question, so they chatted about the scenery instead.
Daisy’s brots furrowed tightly.
Daisy thought, ‘If Alaric’s family is truly struggling, why would he make such an outrageous claim in public? Wasn’t he afraid that the lie would be exposed, leading to even greater embarrassment?’
This side of Alaric left her unimpressed.
After about ten minutes, Alaric stopped in front of the electronic gate at his home, swiped his face to unlock it, and cheerfully said. This is my house. No one’s home, so feel free to look around.”
Everyone stood in shock, taking in the exquisite, spacious villa before them. They hesitated to move.
“Wait, is this really your home?” one of the guys asked cautiously. “I’m not doubting you/ I just haven’t seen such a big villa, before and feel a bit overwhelmed.”
Alaric smiled, recalling his own initial surprise when they bought the villa. “When we first got it, I couldn’t believe it either.
“But many people say this place has bad location and won’t live here, so we got it at a very low price. Don’t worry. You’re here to have fun. Nothing will affect you.”
“Oh, that makes sense, they replied.
A boy feigned curiosity and asked, “Is this villa haunted?”
Alaric shook his head. “No, it’s just that they say officials who live here end up in jail, and businesspeople go bankrupt, but we don’t believe in that stuff.”
A girl asked, “How much did your family pay for it?”
Alaric thought for a moment and said, “I think around 6 million dollars.”
Everyone went silent and thought, 6 million dollars wasn’t a small amount. Is that something a poor person could afford?
As they walked, Alaric explained, “This is the annex where my sisters live. You probably shouldn’t go
inside.
“And this is the garage with my makeshift basketball hoop. Pretty cool, right?”
Daisy couldn’t help but ask, “Does your family have a car?”

Alaric replied. “My dad has one, my brother has two, and my sister has one, four in total. I don’t have one!
Daisy was stunned and thought, ‘Four cars? Surely he was joking
Unable to resist, she pressed on. “Where are those
Alaric answered, “My family members took them out for work and won’t be back until tonight.”
While speaking, he had already pushed open the entrance door to the main building. “Come in and have a seat.”
As they stepped inside, everyone was once again taken aback.
The decor, furnishings, and appliances in the house weren’t just luxurious. They were of high quality.
With cr
With crystal chandeliers, solid wood floors, and brand-name appliances, nothing was lacking.
This was far beyond what a poor person could afford.
One of the guys punched Alaric on the shoulder and exclaimed, “Dude, your family is loaded! A house, cars, and such expensive furniture and appliances… It must cost a fortune!”
“That’s not ft.” Alaric quickly clarified. The previous owner threw in all the furniture and appliances when we bought the house, so we didn’t spend much.”
“Come on, you’re too humble, the guy said.
Alaric smiled and didn’t elaborate further. “Have a relax. I’ll go get some food from the kitchen.”
Alaric said, “Just a reminder, don’t go into my family’s rooms. I can show you my room later.”
His room was a mess, and he didn’t want them to see it, Instead, he planned to take them to Arthur’s room.
Arthur was good at keeping things tidy, having developed the habit under his parents’ watchful eye. His room was neat and could serve as a good front for Alaric.
As he spoke, several girls eagerly began to explore the house, gasping in awe.
“Wow, there’s even a little garden and vegetable patch with so many flowers and veggies! They look well cared for!”
“The small living room on the second floor is beautiful, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a big balcony. You can see the lake during the day and the night view at night. It’s amazing!”
Some guys flopped onto the sofa, shouting, Dude, your sofa is so comfortable! Once you lie down, you don’t want to get up!
“Your TV is bigger than a movie screen! The sound and picture quality are fantastic. Watching movies and gaming here must
be awesome!
Daisy walked around the villa in shock, even exploring the annex and touching everything to assess the quality of the decor and appliances
She quickly concluded that everything in the house was of high quality, beyond what ordinary people could afford.
Her family was quite well-off, but they didn’t have anything as nice as this.
Daisy thought, ‘Did this villa truly belong to the Donovan family?
At that moment, the live-streaming group and campus forums erupted.

Chapter 181
“No way! The villas in Mid-level Mountain Garden start at 40 million dollars. The Donovan family’s villa is so big that it must be worth at least 60 million dollars. Who said they were poor?”
“I checked online, and the location in Mid-Level Mountain Garden is excellent. There isn’t a single villa with a bad location that no one wants to live in. The Donovan family must be hidden billionaires!”
“Oh my God, the Donovan family is so rich! Alaric and Athena are so low-key, always dressing and living so normally, even bringing their own lunches to school. It’s unbelievable!”
“People who lack something often try to show off what they don’t have. Those who are short on money worry about others
of paper. It’s knowing they’re broke, so they tend to flaunt their wealth. But for the super-rich, money is just like scraps nothing worth talking about.”
“That makes sense. We’ve just been too sheltered…”
Meanwhile, Ian, coding while watching his roommate’s livestream, felt increasingly grim, nearly on the verge of tears.
Finally, he couldn’t hold it in anymore and anonymously posted a thread titled (Bro. I’m heartbroken. You shouldn’t expect to be unscathed either). And used his admin powers to pin the post.
The post read: [That fairy girl is so beautiful, has excellent grades, and comes from a wealthy family. Only guys like Matthew and Prince Charles Andero are worthy of her. You comthoners like me should give up on her.]
He had secretly hoped that Athena’s family was poor, thinking he might have a chance as an IT elite running his own company.
But now, he realized it was over. Unless he underwent a massive transformation and became as good-looking as top star there was no chance.
As soon as he posted, a lot of boys responded dramatically: [You jerk. Why’d you say that? Let us dream.]
Girls chimed in with glee. [Serves you right.]
Instantly, boys retorted: [Alaric is now a genuinely rich, handsome guy! He loves basketball more than pretty girls. You have even less hope now.]
The girls were heartbroken.
