She Outshines Them All (Athena and Matthew) novel Chapter 208

Chapter 208
Athena was stunned. “How did you know someone was staying in our old house at night!”
When her dad first started working at Hard Property, he often put in extra hours. Sometimes, he would go to the old house during his lunch break, and other times, he would stay there overnight. But two months ago, her dad became a full-time employee. Now, the management and operations at Bard Property were running smoothly. The company even got him a driver, so he didn’t have to work late very often anymore. In other words, her dad hardly ever went back to the old house
now,
Who could it be then? Athena wondered.
The old man was confused about what was happening, but he said to her, “The house is always lit up at night, but I never see anyone coming out. Sometimes, when we try to find someone and ask the people in the house for help with fixing the water pipes and light bulbs, no matter how hard we knock, no one answers. Sometimes, the lights are even off. We thought your family got rich and doesn’t want to get along with neighbors like us
“No way.” Athena’s expression did not change. “Maybe our relatives secretly moved in. Even we don’t know.”
“Leon, when did you see my house lights on at night? How long do they usually stay on?!
Leon thought for a moment and said, “It’s only a few days before Advent Sunday. The lights only come on at eight or nine in the evening.
Athena believed that the person who dared to sneak into their old house was not stupid and would not leave any clues easily. Therefore, she did not continue asking. After thanking Leon, she went upstairs.
The building had a steel door that needed either a key or a password to get in. The old house had a fingerprint lock that was really hard to force open. Athena couldn’t figure out how the person who quietly moved into her house managed to open both of these doors.
Arriving at the entrance of the old house, Athena examined the combination lock carefully. It showed no signs of having been pried open or vandalized violently. ‘Did they tell our relatives the password and let them stay for the moment? she wondered. But no one mentioned it to her.
She unlocked the door and entered, carefully observing the house.
The house had not changed much and was very clean. However, there were indeed some personal necessities, such as shoes, towels, toothbrushes, cups, kettles, and so on.
There were even some men’s clothes hanging in the room where the male in her family lived. There were also extra suitcases, backpacks, and so on. They looked very old
She was certain that the person who had sneaked in was a young man. He was very careful not to dry his clothes on the balcony.
In addition, nothing was stolen or destroyed. It seemed that the person was quite protective of the house.
After observing, Athena sat on the sofa and fell into deep thought
She thought there was no need to call the police. She just wanted to catch the person and ask him for the reasons.
But how am I going to catch him? Asking Daniel to wait here? She shook her head quickly.
Daniel was undergoing training and often went on business trips. She didn’t want to bother him with such a small thing. So she decided to stay there and wait by herself,
She took out her laptop and started working on the coffee table. When she got hungry, she ate the pancakes in her bag.

No one returned during the day. And when the night came, she didn’t turn the light on. Instead, she turned off the screen and closed her eyes on the sofa, waiting for the person to return
It was a bit cold in January. The person who stayed in the house seemed to be poor, as his belongings were rather cheap. Therefore, Athena assumed he would come back at night.
As she expected, at around eight o’clock in the evening, the door opened.
Athena stood up and quietly hid behind the bathroom door in the dark.
The door opened, and someone entered with heavy footsteps and turned on the light of the living room. He then paused by the door to change his shoes.
Athena peeked out, cautiously showing half of her head to get a better look at the person. He was dressed in a down jacket with a hood, and his face was covered by a mask and glasses.
Athena had planned to close the door and catch him as soon as he walked in. However, something unexpected happened After changing his shoes, and just when the man was about to remove his mask, his gaze landed on the coffee table.
Athena thought to herself, “Oh no!” Her laptop was on the coffee table, and the man must have realized someone was in the room. In an instant, she bolted out
However, the man was quick. He rushed downstairs just as Athena burst out of the bathroom.
Athena chased after him, and they both raced down the six-story building in just a few second elevator.
Athena thought to herself as she ran. He is a fast runner. He’s either trained or experienced

The iron gate on the first floor was closed. When they reached the ground level, the man slowed down briefly to open the metal door.
As soon as the iron door swung open, Athena leaped up from the steps and lunged forward. She landed behind the man and tackled him.
The man grunted and turned his head, his cold, sinister eyes piercing into Athena’s. Their gazes locked, but Athena showed no fear. With a swift motion, she raised her small hand and yanked the mask off his face.
Then, she was completely stunned. Could the other party be… Could it be… But… how was this possible?”
When the man saw her face clearly, he was momentarily stunned. His eyes softened, filled with excitement and joy, and there was even a hint of moisture as if the fierce gaze he had just shown didn’t belong to him. But within seconds, that expression shifted to one of panic and nervousness, as if he had been caught doing something wrong by an adult.
He shoved Athena aside, quickly got to his feet, and sprinted forward with all his strength. Athena quickly regained her composure and raced after him.
She was just as fast as him and should be able to catch up soon. However, he was c***ng and darted straight into the dark area where there were no streetlights.
Athena realized she couldn’t catch him this way, so she quickly came up with an idea. Suddenly, she collided with a tree and fell to the ground. Covering her forehead with both hands, she cried softly, “Boohoo, it hurts. My head hurts, and my chin is -bleeding Can someone help me! Boohoo…”
The man, who had already hidden in the shadows, froze and slowly turned around. He watched as she got up unsteadily. only to fall again. Involuntarily, he took a step toward her, reaching out his hands as if to help. However, when he reached. the boundary where light met darkness, he hesitated and stopped.
A gust of cold wind blew past. Athena trembled and cried even harder. “Can someone help me? My head is so dizzy.
