Chapter 294
The Graham family had been busy for most of the day, but they did not find anyone suspicious.
However, Nicolas and Farrah didn’t dare to dismiss last night’s experience as a dream.
Maggie seemed to have said a lot to them, but none of them heard her clearly. They only vaguely remembered the last sentence they heard before drifting off to sleep. “If you don’t come to see me, I’ll come to see you.”
This sentence frightened them.
After finishing his breakfast dispiritedly, Nicolas instructed the butler to get a car ready, saying, “Prepare another bouquet of fresh flowers. I’m going to visit Maggie.”
He didn’t invite Farrah to join him. If he had, Farrah would have scolded him, and so would Maggie. It was better for him to go alone.
Upon hearing that he was going to see Maggie, Farrah angrily kicked the table and chair and muttered, “I know he’s still thinking about that woman and has never forgotten her.”
Although she said that, after having lunch with little appetite, she still instructed the servant, “Prepare the car and flowers. I’m going to pay a visit to Maggie.”
No matter what happened last night, she would rather visit Maggie than wait for her to come see her.
This was her first time visiting Maggie.
When she arrived at the cemetery, she didn’t know if it was her imagination, but the photo of Maggie seemed alive as if it were watching her and even winking, sending a chill down her spine.
For the first time in her life, she bowed to Maggie and apologized in a trembling voice, “Maggie, I’m sorry. What I did to you back then was really wrong. I know my mistake. I’ve also suffered retribution early on, and I’m not happy at all. Please let me go on account of how miserable my life is.”
Then, a faint voice sounded in her ear. “I forgive you.”
She looked around in shock but saw nothing.
Not daring to stay any longer, she bowed again and quickly left, saying, “Thank you, Maggie.”
Not long after she returned to the Graham family, Adele picked a bouquet of chrysanthemums that Maggie had planted herself in the garden when she was alive. With a small bouquet in her arms, she slowly walked out the back door of the Graham residence, hailed a taxi, and headed to Maggie’s final resting place.
As usual, she stayed until it was dark before heading home.
Today was also Matthew’s birthday. The large Graham family house was brightly lit but completely quiet.
This was not surprising.
Ever since her mother’s accident, Matthew had never celebrated his birthday at the Graham family home, and this day was no exception.
To Adele’s surprise, as soon as she stepped into the main building, the butler approached her and said in a low voice, “Today is Mr. Graham’s birthday, and he is having dinner at home. You should join him.”
Adele was slightly stunned, and replied, “Okay.”

Chapter 294

The dining room was very bright.
She saw five people already sitting at the round dining table. Other than Matthew, there were also Lockwood, Nicolas, Farrah, and Loreen.
Seeing Adele come, Nicolas said gently, “Adele, please take a seat
Adele nodded and sat down in the only available seat.
The table was already set with dishes and drinks, and she could immediately tell that they were all Maggie’s favorites.
Seeing that everyone had arrived, the but
and servants quietly left the dining room.
The dining room was completely silent. No one spoke, and no one picked up their spoon.
Even the somewhat slow–witted Loreen sensed that something was off. She glanced to her left and right, and slightly moved her lips, wanting to say something to lighten the mood, but hesitated. She thought. ‘Could it be that everyone is unhappy because of the ghost incident last night?”
Matthew glanced at everyone and said calmly, “I asked Lockwood to come and investigate my mother’s case. She didn’t disappoint me and confirmed the murderer’s motive.”
A chill ran through several of them as they all turned to stare at Athena.
Athena said calmly, “Over the years, Mr. Matthew and his sister have been unable to find the mastermind because there are too many suspects, and the motive of the mastermind has always been a mystery.”
No one spoke as they listened intently to her explanation.
Athena continued, “No matter how you look at.it, Mrs. Maggie’s case matches the characteristics of a love killing. The strange thing is, if the murderer attacked Mrs. Maggie out of deep love for Mr. Nicolas and was jealous of her, why did they spare Mrs. Farrah, who married Mr. Nicolas, as well as his other lovers? Its motive is elusive, and that’s where this case has gotten stuck.”
Farrah let out a low laugh, her eyes filled with disdain as if saying that Lockwood was not that great.
Matthew’s gaze sharpened as he grabbed the napkin next to him and threw it at her.
It hit her right in the face.
Farrah shook her head, tossing the napkin off her face. Then, she glared at Matthew with a look of anger and humiliation, as if she wanted to kill him.
Athena turned a blind eye to this small commotion and went on, “Recently, I’ve heard about Nicolas’s frequent illnesses and accidents over the past few years. Each time something happened, it coincided with his business trips or extended outings with his lovers.”
Their eyes were filled with doubt.
They didn’t know what all this had to do with Maggie’s case.
Athena said, “I’m wondering if the accidents that he encountered are related to Maggie’s case. Could it be that someone holds a grudge against Nicolas because of Maggie’s situation or out of jealousy, and thus targets him?”
She continued, “From this perspective, Mrs. Farrah is the most suspicious person. However, after investigating, Mr. Matthew and I eliminated her as a suspect.
Farrah gritted her teeth and sneered. “I would love to poison him, but I’m a cripple, and my daughter is disappointing. No one in this house would dare offend Nicolas for my sake, otherwise, he wouldn’t be living so comfortably.
