Chapter 69
In a daze, she gazed at Sebastian, not knowing how to respond.
She also felt that, after having tolerated her for so long, he deserved an explanation.
She paused for a few moments before speaking softly, Liam… was someone who once vowed to be with me forever.”
Sebastian saw the look in her eyes, and his sadness gradually descended upon him, as if he had been transported back in time.
His expression suddenly turned icy. It looks like you have strong feelings for him.”
Scarlett gathered her thoughts and spoke softly, “I used to have strong feelings for him.”
Sebastian asked icily. “What about now?”
“Now?”
Scarlet gazed at Sebastian, taking in his tightly pursed lips and sharp features, She longed to tell him. ‘You are the one I love
now.
She lacked the courage and the entitlement to speak her mind, for she was not pure and her love for him was not enough to make her worthy of him.
She clenched her fists, smiled, and declared, “At this moment, I don’t have any love for anyone.”
Put simply, she had never been in love with him.
The finger holding the cigarette quivered slightly.
Sebastian immediately crushed the cigarette and tossed it out the window.
The instant the cigarette touched down, his scarlet eyes reverted to indifference and aloofness.
He opened the car door and sternly commanded, “Exit the vehicle.”
Scarlett glanced at him, sensing his disappointment.
In that moment, she felt an overwhelming urge to tell him she truly loved him.
She was stubborn; if a man didn’t declare his love first, she would never reveal the love in her heart.
She was afraid of being hurt and of being looked down upon and ridiculed when she revealed her true heart.
She had loved Liam deeply, believing he would always treat her kindly, yet in the end, what did she get in return?
She was almost killed, apart from being injured.
Sebastian was a man held in even higher esteem than Liam.
She was aware of her identity and had a good understanding of herself, thus, she was certain she would not repeat such a basic error.
Scarlett averted her gaze, swung the door open, stepped out of the car, and departed without hesitation.
The car behind him vanished into the garage at an astonishingly swift pace.
Scarlett stopped and looked back as the car departed.
She pondered how Sebastian would react when he found out she was nearing death.
She felt that he should be indifferent, yet how could someone as cold as hirm have pity for her?
Scarlett’s eyes lowered, her eyelashes fluttering, and a wave of sorrow swept over her, leaving her inexplicably melancholy.
Scarlett drove the business car home, thinking that they would return it together the next day when they went to the company to finish the handover formalities.
After taking a shower, she picked up her phone and checked it.
Mr. Yea did not respond to her WhatsApp nor give her another call.
