Chapter 219
Winston remained silent, fixating his intense gaze on her. Millie started to feel uneasy.
She lowered her head and quietly savored the pierogies. Time passed, and she cautiously glanced up, only to find he was still staring at her.
“Stop staring at me and eat your food! Here,” Millie said, placing a pierogi on his plate.
He looked down at the pierogi and frowned. Suddenly, Millie seemed to remember something and took the pierogi back.
Winston was stunned and wondered what she was doing.
“I forgot you don’t like when others pick food for
you,” Millie muttered while chewing her food.
Winston stayed quiet and eventually let out a sigh. “Why weren’t you this obedient before?” he asked, his tone solemn, as if he were lamenting something.
“I was once your wife, which meant I had the freedom to do as I pleased. And I believed that I held a
special place in your heart compared to others,” Millie responded honestly.
Winston glanced at her, feeling an inexplicable pang in his heart upon hearing her words.
“But it’s different now. After the divorce, we’re practically strangers
So I need to be more cautious around
you.” Millie cupped her face and gazed at Winston with a stern expression. Her captivating doe eyes
sparkled with intensity.
Winston hummed in response and remained silent.
Millie ate another pierogi, then she put down her plate and fork, saying, “I’m done.”
“Are you full after eating just six or seven?” he asked in a deep voice.
“I can’t eat anymore.”
Winston couldn’t help but ask, “So, you’re saying that my presence has completely killed your
petite?”
Millie blinked. Their eyes locked, and a smile graced her face. “Ah, I get it now. I was curious about my sudden lack of appetite today, and now I have the answer.”
“Millie Caldwell!” he exclaimed, extremely furious.
Millie burst into laughter and stood up. She grabbed a tissue and gently patted him on the head, playfully remarking, “Oh, come on, it was just a joke. Don’t be so petty.”
Winston froze in an instant, his gaze shifting toward Millie. He wondered why she was gently patting him
as if he were a puppy.
Millie then asked, “How’s Joanna doing? She seems weaker lately.”
When Joanna was mentioned, Winston’s expression slightly softened. “It’s nothing to worry about. The sudden fainting was simply caused by low blood sugar”
“What? She has hypoglycemia?” Millie was surprised.
Winston stared at her, wondering why she seemed so shocked.

Millie noticed a change in his gaze and smiled indifferently. “I didn’t mean anything by it. No need to give me that look.”
Suddenly, thunder resounded outside the window. Millie glanced out and couldn’t help but hold her shoulder.
