Chapter 250
The raindrops drummed against the window, their rhythmic patter a source of annoyance.
“I’ll be right back,” Winston said as he rose. He then grabbed his coat and walked out.
“You’ve only been here for a few minutes, and now you’re leaving again,” Brian chided.

At the entrance of the inpatient department building. Millie watched the torrential rainfall and let out a sigh of resignation. Despite hurrying out, the rain continued to intensify.
“How come it’s been raining so much in Yerwick lately?
“As if the rain isn’t enough, there’s always thunder and lightning too. It’s so scary,” the on–duty nurse nearby grumbled.
Millie looked up at the sky and massaged her shoulders.
Suddenly, a lightning bolt illuminated the sky, causing Millie to close her eyes reflexively. Soon after,
thunder rumbled..
Millie wanted to overcome her fear. Yet, she still retreated and trembled involuntarily. She inhaled sharply before opening her eyes. Then, she covered her head with her hands and dashed into the rain.
Within moments, she was drenched, the wind howling in her ears. As the raindrops fell on her face, a sense of helpless suffocation transported Millie back to the moment she had been thrown into the sea.
It was stifling and cold, and she was gasping for air.
Millie’s pace gradually slowed. She clutched her chest, her heart racing. She felt as though she was on the
brink of shock.
The man’s voice echoed in her ears. “You want to save him, huh? Fine, you can die first then! Your life for
his!
Then, he mercilessly stabbed her shoulder with a dagger. The pain was something that would haunt Millie
for the rest of her life.
Millie was slender, and with shortness of breath at that moment, she swayed unsteadily in the rain. Just as the rain poured down on her relentlessly, she suddenly heard hurried footsteps approaching her.
Before long, a black umbrella appeared above her. Beside her, Winston asked, “Millie, are you out of
mind?”
Millie turned toward the voice. Winston held the umbrella over her head, and his handsome face was marked with worry and reproach.

It was raining heavily, and Winston was soaked in no time. He grabbed Millie’s arm and dragged her into his car.
Her eyes were glued to him as he retrieved a blanket. Then, he hurriedly helped her dry her hair.
Millie glanced up, her lashes beaded with water droplets. The moment she looked at Winston, his heart skipped a beat. Their eyes met, and the car fell unusually quiet.

Millie felt a pang shoot through her heart as she realized all his caring gestures were for Joanna, not her.
Winston pursed his lips while vigorously drying her hair “Do it yourself,” he muttered.
Millie lowered her head. She was soaked through and had dirtied his car. Winston treasured his car. In the past, he would never have allowed such a thing.
But, of course, Joanna was an exception. No matter if she was drunk or caught in the rain, even in a dirty state, Winston would unconditionally allow her to enter his vehicle.
Millie often pondered, how did Joanna do it? How did she manage to tame someone as fierce as Winston?
