Yoel teared up when his career was on the brink. Placing his palms together, he pleaded to Sebastian and Winston between sobs. “Dr. Lloyd, it was all my fault!
“I didn’t think it through. D–Don’t do this to me. What will I do if I’m blacklisted in the profession?”
He couldn’t accept being blacklisted in the medical profession, not after the effort he put into studying hard and graduating from medical school. That would be a death blow to him.
Millie’s gaze was devoid of sympathy, as Yoel had always looked down on people like her. She believed he was reaping what he sowed.
If he couldn’t extend fairness to his colleagues, how would he treat his vulnerable patients? The mere thought sent a shudder down her spine.
It finally struck her the reason behind Yoel’s enthusiasm when he picked up his patient from the emergency department, as the patient worked for a military general. It appeared that Yoel wanted to forge connections and expand his network.
How despicable!
Sebastian glared at Yoel. “Don’t plead to us. Did you pause and think about the consequences when you tried to ruin your colleague’s life?”
Yoel growled at him. “What do you mean? Ruin her life? Am I not doing the right thing by reporting her? What did I do wrong?”
He looked at Millie indignantly. “Millie Caldwell, tell them. You gave Joanne Caldwell your place in medical school, didn’t you?”
Winston stared at Millie in shock and confusion. All they knew was the controversy surrounding Joanna’s qualifications. No one was aware that Millie had given up her place for Joanna.
Was Millie really involved in this matter?
Millie, taken aback, regretted traveling to the hospital to spectate, as Yoel wouldn’t stop dragging her into
the matter.
“Dr. Caldwell, did you give up your place to Joanna?” Hazel whispered to Millie. “But everyone thought you paid your way into medical school.”
Everyone was stunned by Hazel’s words. Indeed, it was public knowledge that the Caldwells, an established medical family, had produced an untalented daughter.
The day Millie attended medical school, rumors swirled that she bought her way into the school. However, when Joanna was accepted into medical school, everyone assumed she earned her place.
Honestly speaking, the incidents surrounding her admission were a distant memory. At that time, she willingly gave up her place to Joanna because they were on good terms, and she would never regret the help she extended to Joanna.
“That’s not true! You will know if you look into the admission history. Millie was among the first batch of students admitted to the school! An announcement was even released on the official website!” Yoel bellowed.

Winston continued staring at Millie in disbelief. She bashfully said to Yoel, “Stop it.”
She didn’t intend to ruin Joanna’s life, not because she was a saint, but because she refused to make public the events from her past.
Although she and Joanna no longer saw eye to eye, they were once very close.
However, the more Millie wanted Yoel to shut up, the more he wanted to talk. “Millie Caldwell was admitted to medical school on her own merits!
“Joanna Lowell took advantage of their close friendship and talked Millie into giving up her place. She knew nothing about the field of medicine. Her knowledge was surface–level at best!”
