“What? You’re resigning?” Lainey was confused when Millie handed her a resignation letter. 

Vanessa was getting ready to share an update on her work when she saw Millie quitting. She was shocked as well because she believed things were going smoothly. She couldn’t grasp why Millie had made a sudden decision to leave. 

Millie was determined. “Yes, Dr. Quinn. I’m resigning.” 

Lainey looked concerned as she read through Millie’s resignation, feeling a mix of emotions. Millie didn’t give a specific reason for her resignation. It seemed as though she simply didn’t want to work at the hospital anymore. 

Lainey asked again, “Have you thought it through?” 

Millie nodded again. 

Lainey remained silent. Millie was hoping for Lainey’s approval. 

Meanwhile, Vanessa frowned and seemed unwell. Millie looked at Vanessa, who frowned and then walked out. 

Lainey asked Millie to leave the office first, as she still needed to speak to Sebastian about the issue. Millie then followed Vanessa. 

Vanessa stopped at the emergency exit stairs, her gaze meeting Millie’s. She sighed. “Is it because of me? 

“What are you talking about?” Millie smiled, radiating beauty. 

Vanessa was captivated by Millie’s stunning and charismatic presence. Her beauty was impossible to ignore. Her confident personality left a strong impression, instantly making others like her. 

“Lately, there have been rumors circulating in the department about Dr. Quinn’s intention to keep the position vacant for you.” Vanessa leaned against the wall and lowered her head. She appeared remarkably composed with her hands in her pocket. 

Vanessa exuded a sense of stability. Perhaps it was her experience as a mother combined with her age. However, she was always calm no matter what. 

“No. I simply have no interest in working in this industry. Working in the hospital was my grandma’s idea in the first place.” 

Then, she pretended to be relaxed and continued, “I’m Millie, the eldest daughter of the Caldwell family. Is it really necessary for me to work here?” 

Vanessa tried to read her thoughts. 

Millie confirmed with a serious nod. “It’s true. I’m not short of money. And I don’t feel like working to serve others all my life.” 

Vanessa was quiet.
