Rachel hadn’t wanted to say anything about Winston After all, Millie still loved Winston, and she would be hurt if Rachel talked shit about him.
But he was the one who asked for it.
Winston’s handsome features morphed into a cold scowl as he said in a low voice, “Rachel!”
Rachel wasn’t like Millie. She never let the same mistake happen twice. She glared at him and taunted boldly, “What’s with the barking? Are you a dog?”
Winston frowned deeply. His dark eyes were staring at Rachel coldly.
The other people in the lobby immediately turned to look at them. When the manager saw Winston, he immediately arranged for someone to control the crowd. He didn’t want to cause a scene.
Joanna immediately stood in front of Winston and said, “Enough! Rachel, if you’re mad at me, then say it to my face! Why are you yelling at Win?”
“Did you think I wouldn’t dare to yell at you?” Rachel glared at Joanna.
Was she really taking herself that seriously?
“You’re just a mistress. What did you think would happen in front of his actual wife?” Rachel jeered.
Joanna trembled when she heard that. Did Rachel just call her a mistress?
“Rachel, watch your words! You’re crossing the line!” Joanna shouted.
Rachel wanted to laugh. Crossing the line? She could cross it even further.
Millie pressed her lips together and noticed Winston’s icy expression.
He was holding himself back.
Millie pulled Rachel’s elbow again. She knew Rachel felt bad for her and wanted to speak up for her friend, but she didn’t want Rachel to get into trouble because of her.
However, she couldn’t stop Rachel from talking. She fired off like a machine gun, saying. “You knew Winston was married and yet continued to flirt with him! You’re in the wrong and so is Winston. Both of you are horrible people!”
She then spat angrily at their feet.
Winston dug his fingertips into the gift box he was holding. He could understand why Rachel was acting the way she was since she was Millie’s best friend, and that was why he wouldn’t do anything
to her.
“Win and I truly love each other. Millie was the one who refused to let us be happy,” Joanna said -pitifully. No one had ever called her a mistress to her face before.
Millie froze. Refused to let them be happy? Millie had fallen in love with Winston first. Did true love always come true for everyone?

Chapter 90
The Caldwell family’s house was filled to the brim with roses. Rachel had practically bought her every single rose in Yermick City.
Millie looked at the front and back yard covered in roses and asked, “Why do I need a man when I have a best friend like Rachel?”
“What’s going on?” Terrence asked in confusion, having just gotten home from work. “Do you have a new admirer? Gosh, what a scene!” He looked up at his daughter and reminded her, “Mills, you have a habit of falling too easily. Don’t be swayed just because he filled our yard up with roses!”
Millie forced out a tense smile.
Suddenly, her phone began to ring.
Millie turned around and leaned against the railing instead. It was a call from Winston.
Millie hesitated for a moment before accepting the call. She brought her phone to her ear and looked down as she said coldly, “Mr. Greer.”
“Come out. I’m in front of your house,” he said icily His tone sounded more like a command than a request.
Millie froze in surprise.
She turned to look outside the gates. Beyond all the roses in the yard, she could see a silver supercar) parked below a nearby tree.
“What do you want?” Millie asked, distraught.
He rarely came over to the Caldwells. Why was he coming over so often now?
“Joanna was being unreasonable earlier and made you unhappy. I’m here to apologize on her behalf,” Winston said. His voice sounded low and flat, almost as if something was dragging his mood down.
Millie looked down, feeling her heart skip a beat.
Apologizing on Joanna’s behalf? He was Winston Greer, the backbone of Yerwick City’s finances.
He never bowed down for anyone, unless that person was Joanna.
Millie couldn’t help but sigh wistfully.
She replied, “No need. I’m not mad.”
The other end fell silent for three seconds before he laughed bitterly and asked, “You’re not mad?”
Millie replied lightly, “Yes.”
She used to get mad because she loved Winston, but now she no longer loved him. She wasn’t his wife anymore, so what was there to be angry about?
Rachel had already cheered her up by buying her a whole garden’s worth of roses.

If that was the case, then what had Millie’s true love gotten her?

Rachel chuckled mockingly. “Okay, you could call your relationship true love. What about Millie’s true love?”
She turned her aim towards Winston. “You can tell us for yourself, Winston. Was the love Millie showed you not true love?”
Winston looked at Millie. His gaze seemed weighed down.
Millie looked away, not wanting to look at him.
Her heart hurt whenever she looked at him.
Rachel waited for his reply, but he stayed silent. She finally said angrily, “Millie spent seven years waiting for you. Even a dog would have been kind enough to notice her efforts by now. Sadly, you can’t even measure up to a dog. Let’s go, Millie.”
Rachel grabbed Millie by the wrist and walked out. When she walked past Joanna, she purposely shoved her with her shoulder.
Joanna was the real betrayer here.
Had she forgotten that Millie was the only reason Joanna could even go study medicine in the first place?
She would have been nothing without Millie.
