Shouldn't Have Kissed You novel Chapter 30

Chris pulled out the file that he had been looking for for the past ten minutes out. In other days, he would have been frustrated and have his personal assistant look for it. But not today. Today was special to him. Today was the happiest day in his life if he could still remember an happy one since he met Maya.

Of course, hurting her didn't make him happy. Instead, it made him want more. He just guessed that's how it is with revenge. You do one mistake to revenge and you become addicted. Addicted to an extent of not thinking anything else apart from revenge. And that, that was something he never wanted to feel again. He had learned his lesson the hard way if you asked him.

Chris sat down and opened the file. He wanted to be sure that everything was okay before taking it. He was pleased with the document. He was pleased with himself too. He was happy. At last she forgave him and the smile in his face wasn't about to be wiped off.

Just then, the door opened and his friend walked in. He wore blue pants that reflected the color of his eyes. His black shirt could make him more handsome than he was. This made Chris travel down the line when they were still teenager.

They had become friends with Wesley when he saved him from bulling and they were in grade classes. From then, they had become friends but at first, Wesley was more of a bodyguard than a friend. Then, they got to know each other and they were all best friends.

In highschool, they're the popular guys along with other three guys which he hadn't seen in about five years now. The untouchable cute guys in highschool. Their group didn't involve bulling like all the popular people do.

That wasn't them since they all under gone it in their primary school. Either being bullied or saving a friend or a kid from it. So them being handsome as people called them, they had all the privilege to have all types of girls their way. But with Wesley, he just wanted one night stand and that was all. To him, committed wasn't his thing and that made Chris think that it was just in highschool.

But the guy never changed. He never got to any kinda a relationship with anyone and before he sleeps with any woman, he makes sure that she knows where she stands.

"With the way your grinning, I'm guessing things went well last night."

Wesley pulled a seat and kept on staring at his friend who was grinning like a fool. The last time he did that, well it was seven months ago. The day he kissed Maya on his stage. Yes Maya. The woman that he is married to and the one he accused of making his life a leaving hell.

That day he could stop himself from grinning as he told her how she felt like in his arms. His tongue in her mouth and him rubbing her inner lip. That had made Wesley thing that his friend had a boner thinking of the woman he had met at that time just for a few minutes.

Wesley had joked of looking for her and having a no strings attached relationship but the look Chris gave him was enough to say he was just joking. But to his surprise, Chris didn't take it lightly at all which left him wondering if he truly loved Kimberly as he made everyone else think.

Thinking of Maya, he also has to apologize. That girl trusted him like a big brother yet he let her down. He allowed her to wear the clothes that Kimberly had offered her during the fashion show without telling her she was the mistress of her husband. What else do you call a woman having an affair with a married man?

At that time he had only thought of what was good for the business. For once in his life he put money first over a human feelings. He did hurt her and he knew it. Then on their honeymoon, he didn't stop Chris from taking Kimberly along. It's not like he had any idea. He just found out late and that made him get mad at Chris.

He had to apologize just like Chris did and if she did forgive Chris, then he was sure she would forgive him too...

"I'm so happy Wes," Chris cut through his thoughts. "Maya finally forgave me. She even spoke to me, Wes. I'm the happiest man on this planet."

"Wow!! I'm really happy for you, my friend. Tell me, what did you do?"

Chris locked his gaze with him, "Nothing, I did nothing. I mean I only made us dinner and the rest is history."

"I never thought that the way to woman's heart is through food. I thought that was for men."

"Haha... Very funny Wes. The important thing is that we're okay. I can walk around telling everyone how happy I am."

Wesley smiled at his friend, "how about you walk at the lobby for starters and shout for everyone to here you out."

Chris got up from his seat with a smile that never fade away. He took the file in his hands and walked around from his desk. He looked at his friend for a while.

That wasn't a bad idea at all but he wasn't about to tell the world that his marriage had been a doom until yester night. To them, they're the cutest couple in time and it would stay that way till death.

Wait, did you just say death? You've seven months till your divorce, Chris.

Seven months. Seven months for him to make her feel happy. Seven months for him to tell her that he care for her. Seven for them to become best of friends. Seven for him to learn from her also. To know about her life although he knew also everything. For him to know her likes and dislikes. To make jokes and for them to laugh them off. For his to know if she and Mr. Ambrose are just friends and if yes, was she planning to take it to the next step?

Seven months. That is what he had to prove his worth to her. To have her call him the first person in case of emergency and not Mr. Ambrose. To have her tell him her fear in life and give her advice where he could. That was his work for seven months. Just like in Bible, where seven means complete. He would complete his work and also his marriage to Maya.

"Give me Maya's number," he asked his friend remember that he didn't have her number.

Wesley looked at him, "you mean for six months you've known Maya you don't know her number?" He saw how confused his friend was, "yes, six Chris. Remember the one month that you had to appear to public every now and then to show them how much 'in love' you were?" He quoted the in love word in the air. "That still counts Chris. And my God, how much did you hate this girl?"

"I know next you'll call me an idiot and I've to admit, I did hate her or thought I did. I don't know I'm confused myself," Chris rubbed the back of his neck. "But I'm making everything go back to normal. I mean having a normal marriage like every other couples out there."

"Yeah," Wesley got up from his seat. "And I'm happy for you but I'm not giving you her number. Anyway, what happened to that rule that whoever gets a girls number first the other has to leave her for the hero?"

Chris pointed a figure at him. "You stay away from my wife. Are you giving me the damn number?" He was creaking his jaws now.

"Chill out man," Wesley lifted his hands in surrender. "Don't be that possessive of her or she will freak out. As for her number it's up to you to ask her."

Chris relaxed and put on his smile back in his face. If his best friend didn't want to help him, then he could do it on his own. With no ones help. After all, he was Chris freaking Rollins. The guy who goes for whatever he wants. He didn't start a company which is a millionaire just to fail in women. He could do it as long has he set his mind on it. And having her number wasn't that hard. Was it?

"I thought that nothing would take that grin of off your face today."

Chris looked at his friend. He thought so too. But it disturbed him when another guy talked about Maya. Even his damn best friend. He didn't know why but it kinda hurt when he saw her prefer other men over him. Like today, she had called her friend to drive her to the hospital instead of asking him. Then, when he thought he could taste those lips for the third time in his life, the bastard had to walk in on them. He didn't even knock her door for that matter.

And what did he call her? Cupcake? Who calls a woman that way? Apparently him. He had called her that when he said his goodbye to her. But she blushed. He saw it or may that's what he wanted to see. Maybe he had imagined it. Maybe he could call her that and see her reaction again. Just to be sure.

"You just did that."

Wesley laughed, "it wasn't me. It was your wife's name."

"As much as I want to argue with you, I've a busy day today. As we spoke, take care of everything here."

Wesley looked at him with curious eyes, "where are you going anyway?"

Chris took a deep breathe. He felt like he was sounding like a broken record so far with Wesley. He told him everything this morning when he was upstairs before he took Maya to work. If it wasn't for the file he had forgotten at work yesterday, he wouldn't even have come to the building.

"I thought I told you that I'll be in the studio the whole morning. And then I'll take Kimberly for lunch and after that we'll hang out together."

"I thought after you talked to Maya, Kimberly will be out of picture."

Chris looked at his friend like he had grown horns. How was he supposed to be done with Kimberly? They had been in a relationship for years although no one in the public knew. That is how she wanted it and it's how he made it. Besides, it was a good thing if you asked him.

And besides, he hadn't spent time with Kimberly since the day of his honeymoon. He had been preoccupied and it had been months. He missed spending time with her. He misses her company and now that he had time, he would spend it with her.

"Maya knows this, I mean me and Kim and she is okay with it. I still love Kim, Wes."

Wesley patted his shoulder, "I hope soon you'll know what you want."

"Com'n Wes, Maya is also free to look for the love her life but that doesn't make you apart of it. Besides, we're divorcing in seven months. We just want to make sure we can live like normal human beings and not like animals as I had made it."
