Silly Bride novel (Winnie and Xavier) novel Chapter 119

He took one look at Winnie and felt that he had to come clean.

In the past, he was not aware of the relationship between Winnie and Xavier, so he kept his feelings to himself.

However, she was no longer with Xavier.

There was no need for him to hide his feelings anymore.

Christopher sat upright and said in a serious manner, “To be honest, I have known Winnie since five years ago.”

“Five years ago?” exclaimed Jacinta when she heard his answer.

Even Winnie, who was feeling depressed, could not help but frown.

She eyed Christopher in confusion.

A gentleness took over the iciness in Christopher’s eyes as he recalled the past.

In an instant, Winnie could not accept that sort of expression coming from someone who was not close to her.

She unconsciously frowned and even put down her cutlery.

“You knew me? Or perhaps, you have seen me before? I don’t recall us meeting five years ago.”

“We spoke before.” Christopher pursed his lips and blushed. “Five years ago, we met in a bank. Back then, there was an armed robbery there. One of the robbers had a bomb on him. I was in charge of the sniper team. You were very brave and quick-thinking. Before we got into our positions, I saw from the surveillance camera how you saved the others. Later on, a pregnant woman was taken hostage by the robbers. You volunteered to swap places with the lady. I had a new colleague back then, and he was quite young. It was his first mission. I still remember what you told him back then.”

Before Christopher could speak out, Winnie said what she said five years ago, “Keep up the hard work, officer! You drive the criminals back every time you take a step forward!”

She could not hold back her laughter. “Now, I remember. You were the SWAT officer from five years ago. You are an excellent sniper.”

Winnie reached out to cover the lower half of Christopher’s face. “No wonder! No wonder I feel that I have seen you somewhere. Back then, you had a mask on. All I saw was your eyes.”

“That’s right. It’s me,” said Christopher with a smile. “You still remember me.”

“Yes, my memory is quite good. By the way, when did you realize it was me?” asked Winnie.

Christopher said without any hesitation because he could remember very clearly, “When I first saw the missing person case of Mrs. Fairchild of the Fairchild family. But I wasn’t sure back then because the file shows that the missing person is a mentally challenged person. Until you pretended to be Paulina and handed me a sample of Yulissa’s blood sample and told me—Being a police officer is a dangerous job, but as a police officer, you stand between light and darkness. Every time you take a step forward, darkness will have to take a step back.”

Winnie sighed and smiled, “Haha! It’s truly spoken by the same person. There isn’t much difference from what I said five years ago.”

Winnie and Christopher were enjoying their conversation. Jacinta, on the other hand, trembled in fear when she heard what they said.

“Winnie, you were caught in a bank robbery five years ago? Why didn’t I know about all these? Chris, I didn’t know you have such a dangerous job.”

With a sigh, Jacinta continued, “Then again, both of you are fated to meet each other. You can consider seeing each other more often in the future. I can tell Chris is a nice man. He is good-looking and has a good character. I have also spoken with Chris and found out that his family isn’t as complicated as the Fairchild family.”

Winnie was rendered speechless.

After dinner, Winnie sent Christopher downstairs.

After hesitating for a long while, Christopher decided to speak up.

“Can you consider Mdm. Sumner’s suggestion? To be honest with you, I haven’t been dating anyone for the past five years.”
