Silly Bride novel (Winnie and Xavier) novel Chapter 256

A loud bang was heard as the door to the basement slammed open.

Concurrently, the person who slammed into the door fell to the ground.

Winnie and Yulissa turned in the direction of the door in unison and saw that the person was Christopher.

Due to insufficient stamina, he wasn’t able to stand back up even after lying on the ground for a while.

His entire body was covered in blood, and his face had turned terribly pale. Despite that, he still tried so hard to stand up. It made Winnie’s heart ache when she saw that.

Staring at him, she spoke in a deep voice. “Stop moving. You can’t afford to bleed anymore. Stop it!”

As both of them gazed at each other, Christopher pursed his lips silently.

He simply stared straight at Winnie, who was dangling in front of him.

He then gritted his teeth and stood back up.

The instant he started moving again, his wound bled once more.

Unable to watch him suffer any longer, Winnie exclaimed, “Stop moving! Didn’t you hear me the first time?”

He was still staring at her wordlessly.

With great difficulty, he moved his feet. Even though it was only a few short steps, it still took him a few seconds to complete them.

Instead of walking to Winnie, he arrived in front of Yulissa.

Christopher had a wolfishness quality to him. While years of institutional training had polished him, turning him into a masculine and just person, deep down inside, a part of him was still feral.

It was his training and sense of justice that helped suppress the wildness inside him. However, at that moment, he didn’t want to restrain that part of him anymore.

Christopher’s eyes were fixed on Yulissa. It was as though he could swallow her whole with his look alone.

Yulissa had always been somewhat fearful of him. At that moment, she was shocked by his intimidating look, so much so that she subconsciously took half a step backward.

“Let her go!” No longer was he concealing his utter ruthlessness as he stared at her with his sharpest look.

Reflexively, Yulissa wanted to back away further, but he grabbed her neck in a single motion.

Christopher glared at Yulissa with gritted teeth. Because he was exerting his strength, the veins on his arm and forehead were protruding. “Where’s the key? Give it to me!”

Yulissa’s face was turning red due to suffocation. “W-What are you saying? What key?”

“Stop playing dumb!” His grip tightened. “The key to open the shackles. I’m telling you to let Winnie go!”

“Let me go first!” She felt her neck was on the verge of being crushed by him. “How can I give you the key if you don’t let me go?”

“Give me the key!” Christopher growled. He wasn’t going to fall for Yulissa’s trick and let go because that was the last bit of strength he could conjure.

Should he let her go right away, he would promptly fall to the ground and become completely immobilized, like a puddle of mud stuck to the floor.

If he couldn’t stand up anymore, his and Winnie’s story would end right there and then.

Yulissa was almost out of breath.

She was close to pulling out the key because she was afraid Christopher really would suffocate her, killing her in a painful manner. Of course, she didn’t want to die. She still wanted to live and find her grandfather, after all.

A plan was even formulated in her mind, which involved her ambushing him from behind when he grabbed the key to rescue Winnie.

However, she quickly realized that was a stupid plan. Why should I wait until he grabbed the key before I retaliate? He’s injured! He’s about to die from massive blood loss! There’s no reason for me to be afraid of him. Do I have a loose screw in my head? Based on how much effort it took him to stand up earlier, I bet the strength he’s using to grab my neck is probably all the energy he has left.

When Yulissa’s train of thought ended there, she suddenly smiled.

There was no longer any fear in her heart as she stared at Christopher.

She held his arms tightly before abruptly raising her knee and ramming it right into the wound on his abdomen.

That was his most severe wound. She believed he would go down soon if she continued to attack the same spot.

Truthfully, her strategy was effective.

Christopher’s body was no more than an empty shell by that point. He had expended all the strength left in his body when he grabbed Yulissa earlier.

After being kicked by her twice, his body couldn’t hold up any longer, and he dropped to the ground.

As she watched him collapse in front of her, she temporarily stopped moving her leg.

Yulissa gently touched her neck, which was almost crushed by Christopher’s hand, and sneered, “Come on! Suffocate me! Where did the strength you muster earlier go? Stand back up, Christopher!”

Holding his wound and curling up on the ground, he muttered intermittently, “Let her go… You can do whatever you want with me, either beating me up or suffocating me… Just let her go…”

She cackled as she caressed her neck in anger. “Let her go?”

Then she couldn’t help but kick him again and roared, “You two sure have a telepathic connection! She asked me to let you go, and you’re asking me to let her go! Do you think it’s even possible?”

With every sentence she uttered, Yulissa gave Christopher a violent kick. “Why should I let her go? Do you think I like her as you do? I hate her! I wish she would die! Do you know you two are making things very difficult for me? Earlier, she was crying and begging me to let you go, and now, you’re asking me to release her. What should I do, hmm? How about you teach me what to do?”

The more she thought about it, the more furious she became. Why is there always someone trying to save Winnie whenever she’s in danger? Why is Christopher trying to kill me in the end, even though I risked my life to provide so many leads to him?

“Are all you men sick in the head, Christopher? Why are you all so willing to give your life to save her? You were doing it, and Xavier did too, although Xavier ultimately got her hand in marriage. But what about you? What did you get from her? A look? A few words of comfort? Is your brain all messed up? Is it worth it? How about this?” Yulissa let out a huge sigh. “I’ll give you a choice. You can beg me to send you to the hospital. I’ll find you the best doctor and the best place to recuperate. As for this woman, I’ll stop torturing her, but I will keep her locked up in here and let her fend for herself. If she’s lucky, someone may find this room and bring her out of here. Of course, if she’s not, she may die of thirst and hunger.”

Her mind had already fallen into madness as she squatted down and slowly supported Christopher up. “If you kneel in front of me and beg me now, I’ll take you to a hospital. I promise.”

It was then Yulissa helped him up and put him in a kneeling position.

Staring at her twisted face, he was suddenly amused. “You’re such a pitiful woman. Do you want someone to kneel before you that badly? I’m afraid I’ll disappoint you because I’m not going to do that.”

“Why?” Yulissa grabbed his short hair, forcefully lifting his head. “Don’t you want to live?”

A cold smile formed on Christopher’s face. “The ugly, twisted expression on your face and your crazy obsession have told me everything I need to know. No matter what I do, you’re going to make sure I suffer. In that case, there’s no need for me to sell out my dignity in front of you.”

“Oh? You’re saying I’m ugly and twisted, is it?” His words maddened her.

Then, she forcefully struck his head against the wall, each strike harder than the one before.

“You want dignity, is it? In that case, I’m going to tear your dignity away and trample on it hard!” As Yulissa spoke, she stood and grabbed a stick sitting in a corner before approaching Winnie.

Winnie’s left hand was already let down by Yulissa, but her right arm was still dangling in the air.

Without hesitation or delay, Yulissa swung the stick in the direction of Winnie’s right arm.

“Stop!” When Christopher returned to his senses, it was already too late for him to stop Yulissa.

Yulissa’s stick had already landed on Winnie’s arm. It was pretty evident that, even if the attack didn’t break Winnie’s bone, it would undoubtedly fracture it.

There was no way for Winnie to dodge the attack. All she could do was take it.

She only groaned in pain once. No matter how painful it got afterward, she resisted the temptation to let her voice out.

Yulissa was pissed off when she saw that. I want to see her begging me for mercy as I beat her up! Why is she enduring this silently? What’s the point?
