Chapter 200
My mother-in-law was no fool. She immediately nodded her head “I feel like a mal lui”
“You are too old to spend so much time on an empty stomach. Go home. Eat something, take some medicine for your stomach and rest well.”
Thus, Carson was able to send his mother away and divert attention from her. He looked pretty skilled at it.
After spending just three hours in the intensive care unit, Jolene was transferred to a regular ward. I was more than caged to see the despair she was in when I learned she had woken up.
As soon as I got out of her room, I heard a high-pitched scream coming from inside. “Ah!”
It was followed by the sound of things being broken and thrown around along with Robin’s voice as he asked, Julene, Jolenet
Calm down!”
“How can I calm down? My son. My son!” His mournful cries were similar to the cries of a night owl.
The first thing we saw was a messy lot. Jolene was in bed, crying and struggling with her hair all over the place. The IV drip in her hand had been ripped out and blood was seeping out, staining her bedclothes a bright red color.
Robin grabbed her and yelled, “Nurse! We need help here!”
Behind us, Carson immediately rushed to Robin’s aid when he saw the state of affairs. At the same time, the nurses also rushed in after hearing all the screams. Several people were holding Jolene so she couldn’t move. So she continued to scream in agony.
“She is very agitated. Hurry and separate her!” The doctor who followed later ordered.
“I don’t want sedatives. I want my son! Give me back my son!” Jolene screamed.
The nurse injected her with some sedatives and finally she calmed down. Her hand slipped weakly and she struggled no more. Upon seeing this, Robin and Carson let her go.
Her eyes blinked as if she was about to fall asleep. Before her eyes closed completely, however, she saw Isabella and me standing in the doorway.
The moment she saw us, a look of resentment filled her previously lifeless eyes and made us both shudder. Knowing her for so long. I never thought her eyes could look so scary.
Not only was she staring at us, she was desperately trying to raise her hand. Still, the effects of the sedatives were strong; eventually, her hand dropped and her eyes closed.
As she was extremely agitated upon waking up, everything next to the bed had been knocked over and the IV in her hand was also broken. The nurse immediately disinfected her hand and removed the broken piece of needle
from her flesh.
It was very quiet inside the hospital room as everyone watched in silence. Even if we weren’t saying anything. I knew none of us felt comfortable inside.
Seeing Jolene react this way I felt appeased while Robin definitely felt distressed. As for Carson, I assumed that wasn’t a pretty sight for him either.
Since Jolene had passed out, Isabella and I didn’t take long and immediately returned to my ward. Closing the door behind us. Isabella looked at me and asked, “Laly, do you think that bitch might have really lost her mind?”
