Chapter 224
“They didn’t speak ill of you. When President Walker came here yesterday, I told him earlier that you would serve him. After you left, we hired another designer for him, but he was displeased and threw a tantrum.”
Eric is ridiculous. He was the one who started making noise before he officially acquired our company. When he takes over our company in the future, we’re going to have a hard time with him.
Since I was able to be completely honest with President Smith, I complained directly: “President Walker is weird. It makes no difference. another designer to serve you.”
Upon hearing this, President Smith smiled. “We can’t blame him for getting angry. Typically, you are the one who contacts Walker Group. He would certainly be unhappy that we had suddenly hired a different designer.”
Sensing President Smith’s caution about Eric, I asked, “President Smith, I’m sorry I caused you trouble yesterday. Why don’t I go to President Walker and explain myself?”
“There is no necessity.” President Smith handed me a document. “Take a look at this first.”
Seeing that it was a tender document from Eric’s company, I was intrigued. “President Smith, haven’t you already given me a bidding document? Why is there one more here?”
“This is the new bidding document that Walker Group submitted. We will have to follow that.”
Without speaking, I took one look at the contents and was furious. This is totally different from yesterday. Yesterday they demanded that the interior design of the suite be in an oriental style. Today, they want it to be a fusion of eastern and western styles.
My time doing research online the day before and drawing sketches this morning was wasted by the changes.
Eric
is an idiot. Does he not know that these sudden changes would bring inconvenience to the companies participating in the bidding process?
Remembering how he’d fixed me with a cold stare downstairs the day before, I was alarmed. The changes to the document appear to be targeting the presidential suite and lobby designs that our firm is bidding on. Eric made these changes to target me?
After thinking about it, I dismissed that idea as there were no hard feelings between Eric and me. Even if I never served him. the day before, he didn’t have to make a lot of noise over such an insignificant matter.
Not knowing what was on my mind, President Smith told me another matter. “Lilian, in addition to the project changes, the Walker Group released an announcement so that all companies participating in the bidding process have to send representatives to its headquarters this afternoon. Why don’t you come with me?”
“OK.” I nodded in agreement. After talking with me for a while, President Smith left my office.
President Smith and I went together to the Walker Group after lunch. When we got there, the receptionist politely escorted us to the elevator. As I waited for the elevator to arrive, I heard a familiar voice coming from the reception desk. “Hello, I would like to meet President Tucker.”
Isn’t that Jolene’s voice? Turning around, I saw Jolene dressed in an appropriate suit. There was a man with her at the reception desk.
Why is Jolene here?
