Marylin Ye ran out of fear and turned into a path beside the main road. She did not know how far she had run. When she was about to lose her breath, she got down and looked back to make sure that the car carrying the drunkards didn't catch up with her. Then she was relieved to continue walking forward.
After walking for a short time with jittery, she finally saw a taxi at a crossroad.
Marylin, like seeing a savior, hailed the taxi. The driver also knew that it was difficult to get a taxi here, so he offered a price much higher than usual.
Marylin bargained with him. The driver was about to drive away. She was afraid that the only taxi would go. She had to take the price which was more than three times higher than usual, hesitantly.
After a long ride, she finally returned to the rented house.
The house she rented was in an old stone house in a urban village. It was an old house in disrepair. It had been built for at least 70 or 80 years ago.
There were many typhoons in the southern cities. When it rained and the wind blew, the old house shook a little.
When Marylin rented this house, she was thinking that maybe one day a typhoon would come and the old house will fall down and smash her to pieces, which was also a good choice.
It was even hard to be dead these days.
The land lady sat downstairs with a fan to cool herself . Seeing Marylin coming back with her clothes in disorder, in an instant, even her eyes became unfriendly. Marylin could not help speeding up her pace.
The lady suddenly stopped her and reminded her, "Miss Ye, you haven't paid the rent for this month!"
Marylin was already penniless. She was blackmailed by the driver into giving the last three hundred dollars she had. She couldn't even afford a meal.
She had to pay her mother's medical and hospitalization expenses every month. She had just graduated this year and worked for less than a month. All her financial resources came from her part-time tutor in the University. Of course, this was far from enough. A large part of her mother's medical expenses was paid by Jamie, under Marylin's begging.
Seeing her distracted, the land lady reminded her again: "Miss Ye, it's time for you to pay the rent!"
Marylin had to find an excuse to explain to the land lady: "I don't have cash on me today. I'll go to the bank tomorrow and take it to you in person."
The landlady looked incredulous and snorted: "As soon as possible! I don't rent my house on credits. "
Marylin strode back to her room and closed the door forcibly, against the door with her back, her body slid down gradually. Finally, she shed tears and sobbed violently.
Someone once said, time could easily crush the past pain like a huge wheel.
This was not true. The longer the time went by, the more unbearable the pain would be!
Everything around her reminded her of how miserable her life was!
In the past, she was so high-spirited. She liked to communicate with classmates and go shopping with friends. But now she was afraid of the crowd and meeting people she knew before, because all of this in the past would remind her that she was a murderer!
Four years ago, she was wrongly accused of pushing her sister down a cliff. Her father believed her stepmother’s words and drove her out of the house.
Everyone said that she was a sinner, she should be cut into pieces, and she was the last person who should survive.
The reason that she survived was because of the man who was supposed to marry her sister, her brother-in-law to be, Jamie Shen!
