My head was pounding like craaaazy!
I slowly opened my eyes, only to find myself tucked under Justin's arm. Presumably butt-naked as well.
I began looking around, and upon realizing that I wasn't in my room, I started recalling the events last night that led to my current predicament.
"So apparently, Claire and Kenzie wanted to bring their boy toys" Mitch texted me.
We were having dinner, and I was feeling a somewhat deep tension that was looming at the table.
Mom and Dave, was oh-so-ever oblivious to my teen drama apparently, and thank heavens for that.
Mom and Dave kept asking stuff about Justin—his plans for college, how his mom and dad were.
Then there was Luke, who stayed silent as a bee the entire time.
I had no idea if it was just me, but something was definitely up.
To be honest, I think anyone wouldn't miss it. By 'it', I meant the fact that the supposed best friends weren't acting like the typical best friends you know.
And mind you, these two had known each other forever.
I was at least glad that Mitch texted me. At least I had a minute break away from the tension.
So as soon as dinner ended, I told Justin that I was bringing him to the party. He drove me back home so I could get ready and promised to pick me up in an hour or so.
"You bringin Justin to your grad part?" Luke asked, leaning on my doorframe, as he watched me do my makeup.
"Yep" I answered, popping the 'p'. And from his reflection on my mirror, I noticed Luke look down and purse his lips, as if he was deep in his thoughts
"You ok?" I asked as I turned to face him. That snapped him out of his thoughts and looked at me
"Uhh.. yeah" he answered.
"You sure?" I asked
"Yeah. Just..." Luke said as he began scratching the back of his neck. I stopped doing my makeup so I could look at him. "It's nothing. Forget it" he said before beginning to leave.
Now, I hated cliffhangers, and I was sensing that this was something way important, so I got up and walked over to Luke before he could leave my room.
"Tell me" I said as I grabbed his arm
"It's nothing important, Kyls" he said before letting out a smile—a fake one, may I add—then looked down at his feet
"Dude come on. I don't have all night" I said as I lifted his chin so I was staring into his eyes, and he was staring into mine as well.
Luke was hesitating and we were dead silent just staring at each other for five seconds, before Luke hugged me so tight, it overwhelmed me and made my stomach turn.
It took a while for me to register what was happening as well before I managed to hug him back.
"I'm gonna miss you, Kyls" he said before resting his face on the nook of my neck.
And for some weird reason, it was breaking my heart.
I swallowed the lump that was stuck on my throat, and managed to speak.
"Dude come on. We still have at least a month or so before we start leaving" I said, but it didn't make Luke pull out of the hug. Instead, he hugged me tighter.
"I know. I'll just miss you so much" Luke said once again, before finally pulling out of the hug. "Anyways, you better get ready. Justin will be here any minute now" he said before flashing me another fake smile, then hurriedly walked out of my room, leaving me slightly stunned once again.
As soon as I regained composure, I went back to doing my make up, which I only notice now, was one eye un-lined.
There was that unsettling feeling on my stomach, but I chose to ignore it and continued to get ready.
Not that ignoring the feeling was easy.
By 10pm, I had arrived at Aiden's place with Justin, along with Mitch. Claire and Kenzie were with their boy toys.
Upon entering, everyone was already half drunk.
