I was in the airport waiting for my flight to arrive, it was 6 pm and I bet Shawn would be going back home by now. I wonder what would his reaction be when he reads my letter. An hour has passed; I got on board and leaned in my seat as I grabbed tightly my small backpack.
I never had a lot of belongings and it seems that I will never have, I am going to a new country where I know no one there. All alone, I am supposed to cope with the environment and succeed in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I kept thinking of Shawn all the ride long, as I reached France, Paris; I checked my account to find a million in cash in my bank account.
I guess Gerald wanted me to never come back for real, it is not like I thought he wouldn't but it just hurts me whenever I think of that old geezer and how he managed to ruin my life.
I unpacked in an apartment that I have rented until I find a nicer permanent home. The room was clean and that was all I needed, I was not picky, to begin with. I went to the mall in order to buy the necessary stuff for my apartment as well as a new phone. In a matter of twelve hours, I was fully settled in this new home of mine.
Shawn's POV:
I came back home excited waiting to greet my angel, I headed to my room but could not find her. The first thought that arose in my mind is that she was in her room doing some stuff so I decided to take a shower before joining her. I got out of the bathtub and directed my gaze to a towel on the bed.
Next to the towel, there was a white envelope that attracted my attention. I opened it and read what was written inside, I was getting more shocked with every line.
'Dear Shawn,
I know that this might be sudden but I have given our current lifestyle a thought, I was not pleased with how things are. I feel like a bird without wings, a billionaire without legs, and most importantly an intruder without rights.
I wish to live my own life away from any shackles; I want to be free just like I always wished. The money that was transferred to me by your dad after I signed my debt contract was enough to make me achieve my dreams; I decided to leave willing to never look back.
I believe that I gave you the price of your precious time; you can manage the company as you wish. Please do not seek to find me, forget about me and consider me as a light breeze that passed alongside the wind.
I hope you find happiness in your life and also respect my decision.
Yours, '
I stood frozen in my place not able to digest the length of the words, what went wrong? I thought that I made her happy those last two days. I even moved a step closer to winning against my dad, so why did this happen?
