When she realized the alligator had escaped Alex’s grasp, Carlene was taken over by fear. The crippling fright turned her legs to jelly.
“Quick! Swim towards me!” Alex yelled.
His cries seemed to wake her, and she urgently replied. She tried her best to make her way towards him, but her legs would not propel her as quickly as she wanted.
The crowd watching from the shore was incredibly anxious. Carlene’s pursuers were the most distressed of all, and they all wished they could rescue their damsel.
But the thought of the alligator’s ferocity snuffed all the sparks of such an inclination. They stayed on the shore and yelled and gestured to her passionately.
“Carlene, the alligator is right behind you! Swim quickly!”
“It’s only five meters away from you! Hurry up!”
Alex was trying his best to reach Carlene.
”
He cut through the water like a knife through butter. One wave of his limbs in water sent him shooting forwards.
Kurt turned back to see Alex moving through the water like a shark. He stiffened as mollification erupted within him.
With just one look and he knew Alex’s speed in the water was at least twice as fast as his own.
Damn it! If the competition went on, I would lose for sure!
Please, Mr. Alligator! Do your best! Swallow him in one gulp!
Kurt screamed and pleaded inwardly.
Kurt’s chest constricted painfully when he saw the alligator going near the apple of his eye.
There were very few precious women like Carlene in the whole of Nebula City. What a waste if she gets killed.
Damn it all, why are there alligators in this lake?
Just my crappy luck!
The alligator was almost behind Carlene. Its humongous mouth gaped and came crashing down.
In a flash, its teeth snapped down on Carlene’s left leg.
The crowd covered their mouths in horror. Some let out aghast exclamations.
Carlene sensed something odd happening behind her. When she turned, she almost jumped out of her skin in fright. A petrified scream ripped from her throat.
She was all but sure that this was the end of her.
Suddenly, a hand clasped her shoulder and yanked her backwards forcefully.
